Still worth melding ilvl55 DoH gear after patch?

I have HQ ilvl 55 gear for my WVR with some materia equipped. I can currently do 2 star recipies with food, or 1 star without.

I have some crafting materia in my retainer, but I'm not sure whether to meld it now, or hold on and buy the new Artisan's (ilvl60 gear) to meld onto. I'm not sure when the Artisan's gear will become affordable and what benefit's I'll get from having it over the ilvl55.

It looks like the new artisan's gear can be equipped by all DoH! That would make it a pretty worthwhile investment I guess.

What do you think?

So I see that there's actually not an ilvl60 artisan's piece for every slot. I'll concentrate on melding these first:

Body - Weaver's Swallowtail (ilvl55)
Waist - Dodore Belt (ilvl55)
Necklace - Rose Gold Choker (ilvl55)
Earrings - Mosshorn Earring's (ilvl55)
Bracelet - Militia Wristlets (ilvl55)
Rings - Aetheryte Ring (ilvl55) (x2)

Then it's just whether to meld onto the ilvl55 Off hand, Head, Gloves, Legs and Feet, or wait and purchase ilvl60... Maybe I should wait and see what the prices are like after I finish melding the above.

simply put if your buying your gear instead of making your own then don't meld its not worth it. wait until you've purchased the new gear, but know it isn't gonna get really cheap for along while I imagine.

however yes those items you mentioned can be fully melded as you wont be replacing them in this patch.

supras can all but be bought of mb cheap now (mats atleast) and if you buy all the other gear you can choose to craft or buy new offhands then work on the recipes.

given the price of materia on your server and cost of mats to make the new gear is what will tell you whether its really worth it to meld or not though.

Thanks chidarake. I'm going to work on levelling up other DoH for a while and meld up those other items i have (that can't be upgraded). Hopefully by then I can look at upgrading to the ilvl60 artisan's stuff affordably.

If the prices are still too high, I'll probably just start melding the rest of the ilvl55 gear I have (depending on materia availability / cost) even though it's outdated.
