Since this thread is talking about the opening rotation, a quick question if I may.

Raging Strikes -> X-Potion of Intelligence -> Bio II (Start precasting it when you see your tank about to engage) -> Miasma (Start moving toward the boss at 0.5 left on the cast) -> Bio -> Fester (when Bio applies) -> Miasma II -> Potent Poison Potion -> Contagion + Swiftcast -> Shadow Flare -> Rouse -> Ruin II -> Spur -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Ruin II -> Enkindle -> Ruin -> Ruin -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Ruin II -> Aetherflow.
Excluding the potions, this is the rotation I've used pretty much since the game started (although I still long for the day they add an /item macro command). I've always been curious though, why the X-Potion is used after Raging Strikes and not before?

I think it is because Raging lasts longer than the pots does. That's why with BLM, we use Fire 3, Raging Strikes, Fire 1, then Xpot. Raging and Xpot then have similar run time.

I use Pots before. Doesn't really matter as long as you can fit in all four dots + one fester with both.

The potion's duration is shorter than Raging Strikes. It allows for it to not be wasted on things that aren't damage spells.

The other rotation is super close to what i do but i do the shadow flare abit differently because it seems to make it easier for me (different parts in bold)

Raging Strikes -> X-Potion of Intelligence -> Bio II (Start precasting it when you see your tank about to engage) -> Miasma (Start moving toward the boss at 0.5 left on the cast) -> Bio -> Fester (when Bio applies) -> Miasma II -> Potent Poison Potion -> Ruin II (while mashing contagion) -> Swiftcast -> Shadow Flare -> Rouse -> Ruin II -> Spur -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Ruin II -> Enkindle -> Ruin -> Ruin -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Ruin II -> Aetherflow.
