PvP Experience Points - How can one get more?

I've been doing exp tests in Frontlines the past couple weeks, and I've noticed that you can get additional exp and Wolf Marks in some Frontlines matches, but I'm not entirely sure how. I'd like to obtain the highest amount of exp possible to rank faster (as anyone would I'm sure), since queue times are so brutal as it is, and Maelstrom seems to suck in PvP on Goblin and getting 1st place finishes is nearly impossible. Reading this, I guess it's based on your rank vs others, but if this is true, then it's unfortunately uncontrollable. Here's what I've found though -

The "guaranteed" exp you get per finish seems to be:
    1st - 400 exp, 600 WM

    2nd - 300 exp, 450 WM

    3rd - 200 exp, 300 WM

But I've also gotten the following:
    1st - 440 exp & 480 exp, 660 WM & 720 WM, respectively

    2nd - 330 exp & 360 exp, 495 WM & 540 WM, respectively

    3rd - 220 exp & 240 exp, 330 WM & 360 WM, respectively

I've found that these "rewards" seemingly have nothing to do with kills, deaths, flag captures, damage dealt, or healing provided. I've had matches where I've done terribly and yet I've received more exp and Wolf Marks than matches where I've done what I'd consider really well (more kills than deaths, 5+ flag captures, etc.). If you filter to your own GC at the end of the match to check stats and your rank (count from top to bottom?), this doesn't affect the "rewards" either. I don't know if this is even a legit ranking for the match anyway, but I've taken it into consideration nonetheless.

Does anyone know more on this subject? Can we control how much additional exp we can get per match, or is it up to the server gods to match us up with higher ranked opponents (assuming that is what the aforementioned article means with "difference in rank").

Note 1: I know of the Free Company perks to provide more Wolf Marks per match. My findings do not include this, as my FC likes to use other perks instead of PvP perks.

Note 2: I also know of the bonuses you get from completing weekly challenges for PvP. Those bonuses are added/listed separately in-game, and are not included in the findings I've shared/recorded.

Note 3: All tests were done in Frontlines only. Never tried the Wolves Den, as it doesn't interest me at this time.

You get a boost to rewards for getting 2nd place repeatedly without getting 1st place. It's +10% per 2nd place, up to a maximum of +50%. The bonus is still applied on your next 1st place, but it then resets after that.

This bonus is meant to keep your exp from being very bad if you're in a GC that loses a lot, but if you consistently get 2nd place, the rewards actually surpass getting 1st place all the time.

You can't really control this, though, and I'm sure a lot of people on your team care about winning and don't just want the best rewards possible.

To my knowledge, 3rd place does not boost the bonus higher, but the bonus is applied to it.

Thanks for the reply, MomomiMomi! That's interesting. May I ask where you got that information? I'd like to read up more on it for my own amusement.

In looking at my tests and previous matches, what you're saying does seem to add up. In losing all the time (2nd and 3rd places), I do see exp and WM boosts after not getting 1st place three times in a row. It seems to continue that way and interchanges whether you lose in 2nd or 3rd place (Maelstrom loses a lot on my server), which is nice. Once you hit that 1st place winning, the boost is really nice, but does seem to reset the boost, as you mentioned.

If this is true, as it seems to be in looking back at my matches, then it does make me happier when losing, haha. I'll continue to record matches for myself since there's not really any overall PvP stats that we can see, other than W/L pretty much. Thanks again for the reply, MomomiMomi. Appreciate it. ^^

Flames lose a ton on Primal, so I have a lot of experience with this bonus. lol I've gone on a losing streak of 12+ matches in a row at times. At least this last week, we were actually doing pretty good.

This bonus was added in some hotfix patch if I remember correctly, sometime soon after Frontline was added. Other than that, I actually got the info just from doing a lot of FL and losing a ton. :P

3rd adds the bonus, 2nd keeps it the same and 1st clears it.

Whenever I got 3rd multiple times in a row I never got bonus. I'll have to see again next time I get a losing streak.

It's very minimal. The normal 3rd place reward is like 200 exp and 300 wolf marks.
Your second loss as 3rd is 220 exp and 330 wolf marks. So it's not surprising if you didn't notice.

The EXP is perfectly fine. It's supposed too be hard to level.

The worst thing they can do is let all the casual PVP players run around in top end gear because they increased the EXP amount gained significantly.

It would devalue PVP, and devalue the hardcore PVP players in FFXIV.

I would rather them "Devalue" the pvp, if it helped to keep the que times around 10-15min, and matches going decent consistant. Harcore PvPer or not, if u have to wait 2hrs for a match then in the end it just is not worth it.

It's as some others have said but just to clarify.
It's when you lose a bunch it gives you a boost the more you lose but does not actually give you more wolf marks and exp until you win. So if you lose say 5 games in a row you will get the same amount of stuff every 5 games but then you win the match after and it will be boosted.
After that it resets so if you won again right after it would be the standard amount of a win.

I don't have the exact quote for you but it was confirmed by a community rep sometime shortly after front lines came out.
I don't know more then that
