If anything, Spell Speed is actually worse for SMN as it will drain your MP faster. I guess it's fine in fights that last 4 or so minutes but in long fights, you would want as little spell speed as possible.

Don't forget that Spell Speed decreases GCD as well. Less GCD > More Ruins II > Byebye MP
