Your thoughts on DRK as a Tank in the future?

Personally I am disappointed that DRK is going to be a tank, when I heard it was announced as a new job I was super excited about it then news came in that it was a tank all of my enthusiasm instantly evaporated.

Yes, the dps pool is saturated
Yes, more tank/heal classes are needed

Unfortunately, I do not like the current dps class nin included, and felt like something I can related to in that role finally showed up only to be snatched away moments later.

I don't know where the thought DRK would be an evasion tank comes from.
We know almost exactly nothing about how the class actually will work.

During the reveal at London Fan Fest, Koji mentioned something along the lines of 'Parry and dodge, as well as the power of darkness' when elaborating slightly on how the Job will play out.

In FFX-2, Dark Knight is the tankiest class by far. Warrior is next, but it does not compare to the Dark Knight's HP and defensive power. DRK was the only dressphere in that game to wear heavy armor, too.

And yes, they used great swords.

I will miss running dungeons with pallys and warriors because its very eminent that DRK will become 70% of the tanking population.

Hard to say this early but i will mostlikely stick with mah PLD and hope we get some more group utility and additional rotation for off-tanking atleast. And tbh i kinda like those CD's we have, surely they are boring but they are just damn efficient(HG <3). Tho i see no reason not to lvlup DRK if it feels fun just like Ninja did ^^

As a person who almost exclusively tanks, I can't wait for DRK. I love playing WAR, but the only reason I chose WAR is because it is not PLD. It'll be nice to have another option to try out, and I'm betting that it will be a full-time switch.

I have mixed feelings on it.

The good part: I love tanking and DRK is easily my favorite job in the FF franchise. I can understand why DPS players are upset. I was very upset when I started playing this game and thinking "DRK is my favorite class...too bad it will never be a tank ." Luckily, I was wrong!

The bad part: I am not the only one that thinks this way. Sure, it will attract a handful of people that would never tank. Most of them will be terrible and DRK may become the dragoons of the tanking world. Worse yet, a lot of already experienced tanks, like myself, will probably reroll DRK because it's a badass tank class, thereby abandoning WAR and PLD. Hopefully the tanks remain homogenous to an extent. Really don't want DRK to be limited to magic tanking or something.

Based on the duty finder queues, we are in a definite need of more players tanking. I think DRK will bring more players to into the tanking fold, and maybe more of them might enjoy it. Yeah, every one will go DRK in the beginning but things should really balance themselves out. Everyone who really enjoys tanking has probably leveled them both and can find the use in either class. Adding DRK just means another tool in the box.

I highly doubt that tanks will outright stop playing war/pld but instead choose between which job suits the scenario best. Boss does a lot of magic damage use drk, boss does alot of physical damage use a war/pld. Plus Im excited to see what new skills we will be getting from 50-60. If the leveling pattern stays the same we should get five new weaponskills/traits and two job skills.

I'm hoping these skills make a comeback but with obvious tweaking to fit the new battle mechanics.

I was think the DRK could be 'Drain' based, Leeches life to heal itself and using elemental shields etc. WAR+BLM type thing. Well when they announced it, that was the first thing I thought of.
