Nope you are seeing it right. I just don't think others are. Why wouldn't you want more people playing tanks is beyond me. The sole reason DF que is long is because people are not playing tanks and healers. Why is it that people are not playing tanks and healers because they are not geared as high. Give us a way to play different roles. everyone will still gear up just as fast as they are now per role just more people willing to play tanks and healers will actually play them.
