This whole idea makes no sense. If you separate the tomes into tank heal dps and must cue on that job then ALL the dps people still cue as dps. Why would a dps guy level a tank to get tank tomes? They want dps tomes. Why would a dps cue as healer when they want dps tomes? All this does is stop people from using their at tanks/heals to farm dps tomes and they now come dps.

What? I quoted their entire post. I have no idea what you're trying to say.
That's not an assumption. Anyone who's played any MMO ever for any length of time can tell you definitively that people like playing DPS more than healers and tanks by a vast margin. This isn't exactly new information to the genre.

You are assuming people who play DPS don't play tanks or healers, with the current system you are extremely limited on how many classes you can play/gear up, which is ironic when the armory system is one of the main attractions of this game.Congrats you just lost a tank. The topic is poetic gear, not ST gear.Besides, people don't play tanks and healers because they DON'T want to play as one, not because they "don't have gear for it". Right now you have ST with ilv100/110 rewards and SCoB is free to farm for 110/115 weapon. The "tank/healer isn't equiped" is a weak argument to begin with. And yeah, like @Izsha said, that is one consequence of different tome types.

Actually the topic is queue times to DF/Roulette. And like I said, u have enough ways to gear up all classes and choose one "main" or 2 (poetics + FCoB). If I wanna gear up my MNK as 2nd main, why shouldn't I be able to farm tomes on my healer/tank? The proposed system can hurt more than it helps, because then people would have to queue as a DPS to farm for them, which means longer lines, not shorter ones.

Honestly this would probably just reduce the amount of healers and tanks since... Well now I'd be forced to queue up as dps to maximize my tomes. Currently I only queue as a healer or tank anymore.
It has been shown time and again using a carrot on a stick method to get players to play classes they don't want to doesn't work. The greatest benefit is already there in terms of having a shorter queue and still the ratio is off. The only real way to alleviate it is to adjust party compositions such that the ratios of the roles in the party better match the overall community's desired role breakdowns. But rebalancing content to increase dps role slots seems like it isn't worth it. The only truly terrible queue time now are caused by the ninja influx which will even out eventually.

I for one started as PLD, got bored with that (when BCoB was for elite only and u had 300 myth cap), became a BRD, got bored with that too and now im playing a healer with a MNK as 2nd. I queue as healer since it will speed up (even then sometimes it takes a while) and you'd lose a healer if i decided to farm for my MNK.
PS: if this is only aboute queue (im guessing its for roulette, since everything else u dont wanna DF it), then like someone said its only because of a NIN influx. On 2.3 I would queue as a DPS and it only took me 10m tops to find a group.

The thing is this doesn't promote MORE tanks and heals to play. It rewards the people that already do. I play tank and dps jobs so this would allow me to double my work bit double my rewards (gear up war and dps at same speed). This system does nothing to encourage a dps only person to switch and in fact discourages them from doing so (lots of people have a tank/heal "dungeon farmer" job to assist their dps cues. That no longer works).
Takes 2+ months to gear a job. Currently dps only people cure for 2 months as dps for tomes. Someone like me (tank and multiple dps) cues for 4 months or more, largely on non dps job. Under this proposed system a dps only person still cues for 2 months as dps. I would cue for 2 months half dps half tank and then NEVER cue as tank again (no use for tank tomes) and be annoyed I'm doing 2x the dungeons. Spend last month or so before patch prob cueing as a 2nd dps.
Current system: 1 jobber cues as their 1 job. Multi role people (can) use tank/heals to dodge cue times forever (most do in my experience)
Proposed system: 1 jobber cues as their 1 job. Multi role people forced to farm more often as dps, and stop farming as tank/heal after 2 months (only 1 set of tank heal gear), then never cue again as tank/heal. And are annoyed at farming 2-3 times as much in the initial bum rush.
What this system DOES do is let multi role people gear up faster. My melee and tank could both gear up on tomes simultaneously if you have the time. What it DOESN'T do is encourage lasting cue time relief for dps and i would argue makes it worse by restricting those that want to dungeon farm as tank/heals from doing so. It basically makes the system mirror animus nexus farming. I would LOVE to do my book dungeons and nexus lights for my nin as my war but I can't because it's job locked like the proposed system. My war relic process was nice and I'd kill to do all my nin books/lights as war also, but I can't so we have another nin cueing for dungeons and trials for the next few weeks/months. Don't make that mistake on tome farming.
This proposal fixes the problem of being unable to 'main' more than 1 job by dodging tome lockouts. Not fixing cue times. OP's idea is addressing a very different issue all together (that opinions differ on being a problem at all) Not cue times.
