Depends on your definition of invasion. What Gaius did now was pretty low scale compared to Nael van Darnus's attack.
Do you think it is possible that Varis will come to Eorzea to personally adress the city state leaders? Would be a nice little gesture. And it's not like he has any prominent generals to use as Nael, Gais, Livia and Rhytatin are dead, and Nero pretty much went rogue.

ya the past 3 invasions was more 1 invasion.

Gaius started the Invasion with Ala Mhigo and continued into Silver tear lake which ended with a halt to the invasion due to the destruction of their Flagship. Then he continued where he left of with Nael's help but it ended with the calamity causing him to lose more of his forces. Then he finally continued where he left off after the Calamity in 2.0 only to finally be defeated and his conquest of Eorzea finally stopped.

In the end it was just 1 single invasion but with time gaps to recover due to constant loss of their forces which resulted in the small amount of forces they had left in 2.0. Due to the lack of forces, using what was left of his dying army, and lack of support from the Empire Gaius only chance of conquering Eorzea was all thrown into Ultima Weapon which failed in the end.

However, with the new Emperor now in Garlean Empire it may not be long for him to strike Eorzea with a greater force since in 2.0 our character only faced was small due to the lack of support from the Empire with the War of Succession happening during that time.
