So ya... Roaille, when they say this in the voiced scenes, it sounds nothing like how it is spelled. By what they are saying, shouldn't it be spelled Whyu?

The word is written in a French style and pronounced as such. "Roa-" would be pronounced like "Wo-ah" similar to why Patrick Roy's last name is pronounced similar to "Wah". "-ille" is pronounced "ee-yuh" with the "yuh" very staccato just like in the French word for girl, 'Fille", which is pronounced "Fee-yuh" not "Feel" or "Fill". Fille is actually a good example of the mispronounciation of a French word leading to the creation of a word in English. The term for a female horse, "Filly", comes from it. You're hearing "ai" like in "Why" because the ah int the first syllable and the "ee" in the second are running together. "ah-ee" becomes "ai". Repeat "ah-ee" to yourself a few times, speeding up each time and you'll see how it happens. Basically they're pronouncing it just fine.

You know the Irish/Scottish language Gaelic has words that don't even sound the way they are spelt. Like this one Celtic Woman singer named Meav, her last name is Mhaolchatha. It is pronounced "whale-cath-uh". Even pronouncing the song Siúil a Rún is tricky
