With regard to the Garuda/Gaius comment in the post above this one...(spoiler below)

Her stench is Zodiark, patron deity of the Ascians, of that I am quite sure. We have had no reason given as to why Shiva and Gaius would have met so they probably have not but we do know Gaius has been working with the Ascians of which could of brought Gaius into contact with Zodiarks taint/corruption. Regarding the 'she' part, much like Hydaelyn's voice is female my belief is both Hydaelyn and Zodiark are female as they are probably two sides of the same coin metaphorically...a single entity once upon a time that split in two separating into light and dark so if Hydaelyn is female then so would Zodiark be in my opinion.

Actually...

In the current patch story they talk of Shiva's 'crime'. Given what usually happens (whether possible or not) when one commits such an act it's highly possible that Yugiri's race is Shiva's progeny.

Well...

We know that the producers of Final Fantasy like to use world mythology as a take-off point. In Norse myths, which they've used rather extensively, Dragons are created when a human or dwarf gets obsessed with accumulating treasure. So that would certainly make Human/Dragon hybrids plausible. Also, in Navajo legend cycles, the cause of one of the great catastrophes of the past was mortal women using stones or cactus limbs (I presume the dried skeleton of the cactus limb, rather than the fresh, thorny part, because... ouch!) to masturbate, which caused them to become pregnant and give birth to monsters. So again, in mythology, we see humans giving rise to monsters. That means that, as Joseph Campbell would say, it's a tumbler-key concept, and that makes it fair game for Final Fantasy.

So, you know... anything's possible. And I'd welcome a draconic race, personally.

Honestly, I would like horns of some sort.
We already have a...I dunno how to word this well...furry? type race, and as much as I love
the Miqote, I think it'll be fair to expand to a different species...
