Lore behind primal ponies being able to fly in 3.0

So you guys might have heard the awesome news already, all primal ponies will be able to fly in heavensward! (Source here: http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...nterview_bits/ )

Lore wise though, how do you think they will change the ponies from being "normal" horses to a pegasus?

You think we're going to have to do some kind of quest that explains it? Maybee there's some kind of special eather in the 3.0 zones that changes the ponies!

The Nightmares were gifted from the Ascians to the beast tribes to use as war mounts - presumably they're creations of the Void. Nightmares that were sacrificed to the elemental primals were reborn as elemental ponies in every case but that of Shiva. Though there are many hints that Ascians nudged Ysayle on her path to becoming Iceheart and Shiva's vessel, they didn't give the heretics Nightmares - the heretics just sacrificed unicorns instead. Perhaps Nightmares themselves were unicorns to begin with and the heretics just skipped a step; that part's fuzzy. Anyroad...

I assume they fly the same way succubi float, or the same way Garuda and Shiva hover... some kind of aetherorepulsive technobabble... This may be one of the cases where hoping for more than that is futile, but if this team was ever one to back down from a lore challenge, I'm an Ishgardian Duke.

The elemental miasma around their hooves is magic enough to fly! Just look at the headless horseman mount in wow, he runs on the air. I Imagine it will be like that.

If you look closely at the Nightmare, it has fire engulfing its horn, and both stones and blades of wind circle around its hooves. It has the first three properties of Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda. Were the Nightmares gifted to the Amalj'aa, Ixal, and Kobolds first, Moose?

Mechanically, at least, yes.

Nightmare came in during 2.1 with the first three extreme fights, long before the elemental ponies came into existence.

Whether Sahagin and Sylphs also had Nightmares at the time is unknown (as is how the sylphs would use them as mounts in the first place).

Anyroad, I have no idea if SE will give a lore reason as to how the primal ponies will be able to fly. I honestly don't think they'll give any lore reasons, because.... HOW could they explain it? If they do give us a lore story that explains it, then that's great! But I really don't think we'll get one. This is a fantasy game after all, so things will happen that don't make sense, regardless. That's the point of a fantasy game. I think I'll probably just roll with it and not worry about an explanation.

Nightmare will be able to fly too correct? At the very least if they give a lore reason for that one, it could just be assumed that the ponies we got would be retconned into "Nightmares with wings" type of thing.

Also...kinda hoping if they do having wings it'll be made out of their respective elements. Could also give a reason, while at the same time not having to be really be explained lore-wise too much mayhaps.
