Hello!
I am Raphael Custos, an up and coming Gladiator, and I have a few suggestions from me, to you, the Developers!
When you play in full screen, and you hit alt-tab, it closes Final Fantasy XIV out. If you have not already began to discuss this issue, and any changes you could make to help fix this issue, you really should.
Grinding. This is a Final Fantasy Game, I know. However, this is also 2011. We are not in the times of Ultima Online anymore. I want to see more creativity! Extend the Story Quests, create more quests for each level that regard combat and or escort missions. I want to see more meaning to my leveling experience, and not just "Okay, so I have to grind this many mobs to this level until I can begin this story quest."
Suggested Fix: A broader spectrum of quests for all levels and jobs within their main city and encampments.
Possible Result: A better drive of personal progression through convenience. Traveling all the way to Limsa Lominsa from Ul'dah just to complete one or two quests isn't very time productive.
A Barber/Aesthetics shop. We grow attached to our characters. But some of us regret our choices in the way they look some times. I suggest an area where you may change tattoos, hair, and beards in-game for a gil price. I would also like to see more options for each character as well. When creating my first characters, I noticed a rather large imbalance in the selection of certain aesthetic choices among each race and gender. The other options such as height, race, or otherwise of course should not be changed. I believe this is a fair compromise, is it not?
Suggested Fix: A Cosmetic Shop within each main city that charges a low amount of gil the first time you make your changes, and increases every time you make your changes afterward. Also an increase in customization options per cosmetic choice. These changes may include but are not limited to:
- Hair
- Tattoos
- Scars
- Beards
- Eye color [Contacts]
- Piercings
Possible Result: Less forced character creation and more focused progression on characters already created, as well as a generally "happier" community.
PvP Sporting Events are a must. I know that this game is heavily balanced around a PvE aspect. Believe me when I say, I do NOT want to create imbalance because of a PvP Sporting Event type implementation. However, I can't help but feel sort of empty while playing Final Fantasy XIV, because there's not that sense of competition amongst each other, it's full on cooperation and nothing more or less. Again, I know that Final Fantasy, to its core, is all about cooperation. I understand this. That's why I suggest the below:
We know there are three separate nations now. Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, and Ul'dah. From what I can tell so far [Have only reached R20], the three nations are going to form some type of Alliance in order to beat back whatever the danger poses to Eorzea is. It means we are going to be at war, but not amongst each other. I don't want spoilers, but I'm sure this is what is going to happen. If it is the way we are going, why not National Events? Gladiatorial team events, Sporting Events like the ball game in Final Fantasy 10, an Olympiad Sporting Event of sorts, create a holiday of it like this season of fire thing. Even get the greatest crafters of the three nations involved in competitions that test their skills with their work.
Suggested Fix: Seasonal Olympiad Sporting event that couples the art of crafting, battle, competition, sports, and general entertainment together in to one magnificent holiday of festivities. Some of the described above could include but are not limited to:
- Quality Crafting Competitions. This would involve the best of the best in showmanship. A grand stage, the competitors, their mats, and judges that grade the quality of their goods![Every Main City]
- Gladiatorial sporting events ranging from 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, 6v6, or so on. This would be held in a newly re-made Ul'dah Gladiatorial Arena. Spectator seats, stands, better suitable for players to see all of the action. Competitors would either be in a linkshell vs. linkshell, or player versus player environment where they would defeat [but not kill] their enemy in a gladiatorial match of skill. The arena's environment could host a number of changes so that bashing your enemy is not the only option, perhaps a king of the hill, best of job [GladVsGlad for instance], or perhaps the two competitors are forced to work together to defeat an enemy, and whomever defeats the most enemies in that competition is the winner! [Ul'Dah]
- Chocobo "high speed" race event. This event would take place in Gridania on a man-made track around the forests, first to the finish line wins![Gridania]
- Fleet Competition which involves competing Linkshells, each with their own ship and an NPC ship captain. Objective would revolve around invading the other Link Shell's ship and capturing a point of interest for a limited amount of time. [Limsa Lominsa]
Possible Result: A community not only fixated on cooperation, but fun and games as well. A chance to show the world the true best and brightest, a chance to show the world a true community.
Okay, so maybe I was a little ambitious in the last request. I know you guys have tons of work to do, and playing this game now, I have faith in what you can do!
