    Glitch with controller

    Platform: Windows 7 64-bit
    ISP: TimeWarner
    Date & Time: 8/8/2011 2:28PM (PST)
    Frequency: Frequent
    Character Name: Janga Maky
Race: Seeker of the Sun, Miqo'te Female
    World: Saronia
Area and Coordinates: Limsa Lominsa, Lower Decks, [5, 5]
    Party or Solo: Solo
    NPC Name: None
    Controller: Nyko AirFlo

Maybe this has already been posted here--I know I've seen it on another forum (see below)--but controllers in the game seem to have a glitch where the left and right analog sticks seem to have a "tick" that causes camera angles and character movement to change slightly, even when you're not touching the controller. The most annoying thing is when you're running on auto-run, and the glitch causes your character to stop (canceling auto-run). I should also note that the controls are way too sensitive for canceling auto-run... but that's another issue.

Anyway, today I had a wonderful example while crafting. Sitting at the position given above while crafting on CRP, my camera angle kept jumping slightly left or right at random times, but it always happened when either a menu appeared or when I selected a menu item (using the D-pad and buttons, not touching the analog sticks). During 2 minutes, the camera angle managed to gradually bounce from viewing my character from the left to the right, all in little, regular jumps.

Like I said, it's been posted elsewhere:

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ad-question-!?

Can this please be fixed? Besides the annoyance factor, it can affect gameplay at more critical times.

    Thanks.

P.S. - I was not tucked into a corner or anything else that might have caused camera angle issues. Again, I've seen this when out running around and fighting, but today was the first time I noticed a link with menu function.

P.S.S. - And, yes, I tested this after the 1.18a update, and it's still an issue.

Go in your FFXIV Config and then in the Gamepad Option put your Calibrate to 0.5, for most controllers 0.2 is too low. 0.2 is the default setting on Calibrate.

hope this helps, it worked for me.

Indeed, especially for older controllers that are broken in (and thus have looser mechanics). When I started playing this game, I had to set my at .3, now I have to set it at .4 (All that running around in circles around people is a lot of wear and tear!)

Sorry I forgot to mention this, but my "Calibrate" setting was already at 0.5.

I didn't have this problem with the same controller in FFXI (with the same out-of-game calibration settings). I bought the controller a month before I quit FFXI, took a year off, then played FFXIV from beta on.

I've had this issue for a long time, and I played with the "Calibrate" setting not long after the initial release. It was today when I noticed that some of the ticks appeared to be directly tied to menu appearance/disappearance that I thought I had a clue for the devs to look at.
