regardless, a stock install of windows 8.1 is no longer supported by microsoft, so you may be missing security updates and hotfixes.

A fully up to date 8.1 install should have 6.3.9600.xxx as its build string.

But his version is up to date. I'm having the same issue and contacted Support already but the only thing they pointed out yet was my graphics driver not having the same versions and instructed me to update it, which didn't do anything yet.

Ops build string is corrupt or the os is corrupt

Update 1 correct build string is

Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit (6.3, Build 9600) (9600.winblue_r3.140827-1500),

not

Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit (6.2, build 9200) (9600.winblue_r3.140827-1500)
