GRAND COMPANY RANKING: BROKEN HOPES

Well it seems that progressing in the Grand Company of the Storm is useless and frustrating at the same time. I just completed the main storyline all the way to the end of patch 2.4 today hoping to set my targets on my Storm Ranking soon after.

The problem lies within the walls of the Storm Grand Company. I am a Storm Captain looking to reach the next level.

-Completed the Darkhold lvl 44 dungeon
-I have 22,000 Storm Seals
-Completed all the trials
-Completed the entire storyline ending at 2.4 patch

I heard from a lot of forums that there is a flaw within the game that prevents you from reaching the next rank. It stems from the main storyline. They are saying not to complete that dungeon in the main storyline and do the Storm Ranks first to acquire next entry into rank. So what next?

Are you reading the titles correctly? It's currently not possible to progress past Second (x) Lieutenant. Meaning, you, as a Storm Captain "Sergeant" isn't even possible, yet.

Sorry i meant i wanted to progress past Captain. It won't let me. Any idea why?

This is just an assumption, but have you completed your Grand Company Hunting Log? This is something that a lot of players overlook or forget about, but it's a necessary requirement for getting later promotions - players mistake it for their class Hunting Log, but it's a separate Log (in the Hunting Log menu, it's accessed by clicking on the logo of your Grand Company, in your case, the Maelstrom).

There are only three tiers in the Grand Company Hunting Log, and they only reward Company Seals instead of gil and exp, plus some of the enemies you need to defeat are only found in specific dungeons, meaning you will have to run those in order to complete them. But it's mandatory if you want to attain the highest currently available ranks in your Grand Company (currently the highest attainable rank is Second Lieutenant, as Najara mentioned).
