Is my SMN rotation okay? (video)

So, I've been parsed at 353 (I know, horrible) but I'm a BLM main who uses SMN to kite. I may be using SMN for T11 since I'm having issues during add phase (clip casting sucks against the egg). Also was parsed at 353 before my weapon, coat and shiva bracelet.

My gear is all over the place, I know. Any help there would also be appreciated. I opened with Shadow Flare on the ground to replicate Tank pulling lol

This would be the optimal opening rotation:

Raging Strikes -> X-Potion of Intelligence -> Bio II (Start precasting it when you see your tank about to engage) -> Miasma (Start moving toward the boss at 0.5 left on the cast) -> Bio -> Fester (when Bio applies) -> Miasma II -> Potent Poison Potion -> Contagion + Swiftcast -> Shadow Flare -> Rouse -> Ruin II -> Spur -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Ruin II -> Enkindle -> Ruin -> Ruin -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Ruin II -> Aetherflow.

After this, it's mostly a priority system depending on how the fight goes. You want to refresh Dots when they have < 3 seonds remaining, same deal for Shadow Flare if the boss won't move for 12 seconds minimum. Make sure to use Ruin II in before using off-gcd abilities. Whenever possible, be in melee range to be able to auto-attack the boss.

The thread also has pretty good information about slightly modified openers. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask!

Okay, so I'm at 390 now with the rotation you kindly showed

I wasn't using X pots, food or Poison pots however. I missed 3 potential Shadow Flares too :/

Practice makes perfect so keep at it. Also, don't hesitate to modify the rotation to suit it to different situations as well.

Since this thread is talking about the opening rotation, a quick question if I may.

Raging Strikes -> X-Potion of Intelligence -> Bio II (Start precasting it when you see your tank about to engage) -> Miasma (Start moving toward the boss at 0.5 left on the cast) -> Bio -> Fester (when Bio applies) -> Miasma II -> Potent Poison Potion -> Contagion + Swiftcast -> Shadow Flare -> Rouse -> Ruin II -> Spur -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Ruin II -> Enkindle -> Ruin -> Ruin -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Ruin II -> Aetherflow.
Excluding the potions, this is the rotation I've used pretty much since the game started (although I still long for the day they add an /item macro command). I've always been curious though, why the X-Potion is used after Raging Strikes and not before?

I think it is because Raging lasts longer than the pots does. That's why with BLM, we use Fire 3, Raging Strikes, Fire 1, then Xpot. Raging and Xpot then have similar run time.

I use Pots before. Doesn't really matter as long as you can fit in all four dots + one fester with both.

The potion's duration is shorter than Raging Strikes. It allows for it to not be wasted on things that aren't damage spells.

The other rotation is super close to what i do but i do the shadow flare abit differently because it seems to make it easier for me (different parts in bold)

Raging Strikes -> X-Potion of Intelligence -> Bio II (Start precasting it when you see your tank about to engage) -> Miasma (Start moving toward the boss at 0.5 left on the cast) -> Bio -> Fester (when Bio applies) -> Miasma II -> Potent Poison Potion -> Ruin II (while mashing contagion) -> Swiftcast -> Shadow Flare -> Rouse -> Ruin II -> Spur -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Ruin II -> Enkindle -> Ruin -> Ruin -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Ruin II -> Aetherflow.

Since the post has been answered, I will go off topic before it is dead...Why your avatar is one of the Miqo'te but your signature is one of the Hyur??? I see someone has switched to our fleabag race... Or that is what my friends call me
