Adding new ranks to PVP was nice, but the new rewards are just bad reskins of the old ones. It's not very enticing when there's so much new content to do.

Need BRUTAL, SAVAGE open world PVP
Where the weak are meat; the strong do eat
PS3 limitations
<-- did 1 PVP match Frontlines. I left after not even minutes! I feelt stupid and was bored of it so fast. o.O
Never did PVP again.
Majority of the community are either leveling: Ninja, doing new quests or the new dungeons/raids.
A lot of PvE junk just added, so yeah, slow queue times. Hopefully things pick up after the lulznin craze is over
I was doing 48 mans as an Immortal Flame on Wednesday on Siren (Aether) with a pop roughly every 30 minutes. GC imbalances seem to be roughly the same as usual.
The big thing is that a large portion of the population is focused on leveling ROG/NIN. Once they hit 50 they are likely to start queing Frontlines again in order to get the Bat sets.
I'm big on PvP(rank 40 with a war horse) but I haven't touched it since 2.4 hit. I'm focusing on burning through the PvE stuff first. Final coil and crafting is taking up most of my time. I suspect a lot of people are doing the same.
If they had added a new frontline map for 2.4 it would have kept PvP alive during this time, sadly PvP seems to be at the very bottom of their content list.
EDIT:
This too. It feels like they put the least amount of effort they could into PvP. Just enough to say they did add something.

To be fair, it's only really played by a minority of players in the first place. Doesn't seem very smart to devote a lot of development time to something only a few players will actually bother doing. Which also explains why the Zodiac upgrades clearly didn't have much development time...
Given that Carteneau was dead only a month after being released with excessive wait times, it's fairly clear that there isn't much love for PvP right now. Wolves Den has been close to empty since it was first released, and has only gotten worse with Frontlines. I don't see them investing much in PvP as there just isn't enough interest to make it worthwhile.
True it probably doesn't have that much interest. Wolves Den pretty much killed PvP from the start.
However, at least on my datacenter, wait times weren't that long before 2.4. I could get out of a match then have an insta pop. Part of the issue with wait times is they don't let groups Q for in progress, when there was often big gaps in teams due to withdraws at the last second. There's a few more things they could tweak to make pops faster, but I don't really want to get too much into that subject. Another issue is the GCD turns off a lot of PvPers. Then they keep nerfing where nerfing isn't needed. Maybe slight tweaking but NOT harsh nerfs. Like whm for example, when it was the underdog in PvP in the first place. I think they only look at healing numbers, and that is NOT completely representative of performance. It's easy to be a bad and pad numbers in FL.
Anyway sorry about rambling... I just have a funny feeling that they don't have a dedicated PvP team. I think it's possible to get more people into PvP, they just need to put a little bit more effort into it. Which, like you said, they probably wont do since it doesn't have enough attention in the first place. A loop. lol
have you ever played frontlines? With Arena PVP you are right.. but frontlines is assum.. just saying.
But well.. i think for people its more enjoyable to do hundreds of COIL runs over and over... aye..
-most boring community-
i still need 4 ranks to complete my pvp equipment for vanity purposes for my blm
and ninja... lol:
