Typo or "as intended"?

So i'm fate grinding, was capped, went back to my Grand Company to trade in seals, the material tab is spelled materiel, is this a typo or no? Cuz i know the french spells it with an e. That's what google says at least.. >.>

It's not a typo. Materiel is, along with MUCH of the text in the script, and old timey way of referring to "stuff."
It's even pronounced a little differently.

Well, again it's not actually the same word as "material." It's an out of date word that basically means "random things used for things."
Meanwhile material is "random things that compose things."
If it's confusing, that's why materiel has fallen out of use in modern English.
