We get a "heat resistant swimsuit" prior to going out Bombard hunting.

2. Faire chaperones will ask you to take part in the Bombard hunt, and provide you with special heat-resistant swimsuits.

So basically we probably get to wear some basic swimsuits while doing the event and then earn some even better ones.

Ok now I see what you mean. Rather than a suit as the reward, we get one to start and can earn more. The way I read your post it sounded like you were under the impression that we would be getting swimsuits tonight, and the actual event started 3 days after.

Something Tells me this Summer events connects with the "Storm over Gridania" event and the whole world in General Just like the Easter Event talked about Grand Companies and more on Eorzea's Demise.. will the same happen in the Summer Event? Will Gridania be Burned down with the Summer Event? hahaha

I love how they continue to tie the seasonal events in with both the game redesign and the current events in Eorzea.
