Just because people don't want to make an issue about it doesn't mean everyone is happy about this. Those bikinis are slutty. If you take that as an insult, well then maybe you ought to think about it. "Everybody's doing it." is hardly an excuse.

As for FF, yes, they have had some sexualized stuff, but they have never gone this far before. I watch a lot of anime; I know exactly what type of stuff Japanese shows are capable of. I have always appreciated that FF kept it more toned down, and it's one reason I love the series so much.

Am I calling SE out on this? A little bit I suppose. The worst thing is, I actually like the basic idea of the event. But no, I won't be participating. In my mind, while sex is by no means a taboo subject, it is in the end a private thing between me and my husband. I don't put myself on display for every man to oogle.

Just for clarity's sake, so no one thinks this is onesided on my part... for all the boys out there in the harnesses and underwear (there have been a few strutting around on my server), all I have for you is a massive eyeroll.

And your comment about sex makes absolutely no sense. Bikinis have nothing to do with sex. This whole event has absolutely nothing to do with sex.

Learn to appreciate the human body without having to think that skin = sex.

Have you read half of the responses here? I fully agree that naked and sex are not the same thing, but you can't say that the purpose of that particular bikini isn't to invoke a sexual response. The very post I was quoting was referring to a sexual response. If the majority of posts weren't making such comments, I wouldn't feel this way at all. I definitely agree, naked does not equal sex or sexual, just as sex or sexual does not equal naked. The bottom line, however, is that many people, yes youths in particular, aren't mature about such matters.

I agree with you that a lot of people aren't mature about such things. But my point is that when you are, you realize that such things have many more reasons than just to invoke sexual thoughts, and in the long run are actually quite practical. Yes, I'm talking about the bikinis.

I just don't agree with you on the whole "sexual thoughts" thing. I'm sure a lot of people here are joking around. I have made such comments before, simply for humor. Do I think they are sexy? Yes. But that still doesn't mean I am having sexual thoughts. My thoughts do not go beyond, "Ya know, SE made some good looking character models." I enjoy them like I enjoy a good photo or painting, not like I'm looking at my naked significant other sprawled out before me in bed.

Sure, SE realizes there are immature people playing the game that will have sexual thoughts, but I guarantee you if those people didn't exist, we'd still get the bikinis anyway. Those immature people are simply seen as a cash bonus to SE, and can you really blame them? They need any money and potential future subscriptions they can get for this game right now, due to it's poor release and horrible reviews.

I think, and I also think SE's main reason is, that swimsuits make us have happy and fun thoughts. Seriously. Not happy fun sexual thoughts. They just remind us of the beach, which is where people go to have fun. And usually, when people do this, it's nice and warm out. All positive.

The fact that they didn't choose a one piece is because... do I really have to explain... it's 2011! :P If the characters were fat, it'd be one thing, but they are fit and attractive. Even the guys. Same thing applies in real life. If you are fit, you dress to show it. It's not being slutty. It's something most people actually do for themselves, not for others. It's a great moral boost. Now, when you dress slutty, you are doing it for others, and you are doing it to get laid. There is a major difference.

As for you saying you will not be participating, I hope you have other reasons than just because you don't like the idea of bikinis being in the game. If that's the case, you really need to lighten up. This is the first event that actually sounds fun.

I also don't understand when people can't just appreciate the beauty of the body without thinking about sex.

FF always has kept things nice. Now they make it a lil bit into a game where all pervs will come together.
There are even minors playing this game.

What does that have to do with anything? Don't you bring your kids to the beach? Or if you don't have kids and maybe are a kid yourself, I'm pretty sure you have seen women in bikini's before while going to the beach or even a public pool (if you live in a country with no beaches). So what,s the deal with minors? The characters are not running around naked, they are wearing swimsuit, and it just so happens that people run around in swimsuits in real life as well and where there are minors as well. So get on with the times.
