Duels are apart of every MMO they are nearly a MUST it's just for fun most the time.

It's not that we're being all, "PvP bad, burn it at the stake!" PvP is a part of the game now, for good and for ill, but it has it's places and the open world is NOT that place. We're all for more modes in the Wolves' Den. Should give the place more traffic, help the PvPers get their kicks. But open world PvP, even if just in the form of duels, will not end well. Many of us have played in games where there's a duel system in place and it's rarely been a good experience.^My friend had another request involving open-world arenas & people mostly flamed it because it would take up their precious PvE space.
I swear so many of the PvP haters on these forums are so incredibly selfish lol.
I've tried to come up with reasonable compromises but alas.
And then there's the subjective experience of those who enjoyed duel systems. Sure, it may have been fun for you, but I can't say the same nor can several others in this thread.
Let there be a 1v1 mode in Wolves' Den, but leave it in Wolves' Den...

Next gen mmo's shouldn't have less stuff than old mmo's.
The fact that duels or pvp in general wasn't in at launch made no sense for a next gen mmo.
We don't have to start at 0 if we already saw 100, we should start at 101
Just saying.
To be honest, I don't like PvP much, if at all. And I particularly don't like grouped PvP, since I don't like feeling that actions I may have performed has caused other people to fail. But I do like the idea of 1v1 PvP for the Wolves Den (and maybe Frontlines?). Such as if it was set up in a way to challenge a specific person (maybe in your party?) or a random person waiting to fight.
I'd be actually kinda interested in it then, since I wouldn't have any fear of letting others down if I lose. I'd love to try for some of the PvP achievements, but I don't think I ever will with the current system.
So far the only example of harassment has been from a free to play MMO. Any game that is free to play will draw in some of the worst people around. That subscription alone cuts a large portion of potential trolling players.
I'll compare to WoW again, primarily because it was my longest MMO experience. I played on several servers, and not once did I ever experience any form of harassment from declining a duel. The worst I got was a few cry or laugh emotes and then they went to duel someone else.
But thankfully Yoshida has a high interest in PVP and there's a good chance that'll be implemented in the future. I'm expecting it to be a que of sorts for Coliseum, and that's fine, because right now it's non-existent.
As long as it comes with a tutorial that teaches people the difference between the words "duel" and "dual".

It's worse when you completely trash them and they call you a hacker. This is the kind of stuffs that keep happening in games like Aion, even with a disabled duel option you will always be bugged by people named as "xxsephiroth cloud" or "naruto ftw" randomly telling you with a simple : dudu? / duel?.... all day long....
I don't want to end black listing half of the server X.X, huge NO to OP request.
Aion was a monthly sub like FFXI or FFXIV from 2009 to 2012 before they sold it to Gameforge for EU and switched to F2P on NA/EU, I played it for almost 3 years the hardcore way (solo/duo PVP and HL PVE) on 3 different servers and even had a taste of 6 months with Gameforge.
And so, my brother and me had the point of view from before F2P and after, nothing changed much between the 2 eras when it was about harassments, it was kind of the same problems with servers, trolling, harassing, toxic community and the same dungeon-pos-hacker-players were still continuing their business over 2 different company without being banned (from Ncsoft to Gameforge).
Note : it doesn't affect the kind of player you re if you play a F2P or a P2P game, it have nothing linked between, it's just a matter of education...
And you found this acceptable? Sorry but no, this kind of attitude in a final fantasy could not be tolerated.
^This, so much this... How many times I found my incredibly skilled brother in pvp being reported, harassed, insulted just because he was kicking so many donkeys as solo pvper... It went so far into harassment that one day they decided to steal one of his friend account just to be able to steal stuffs from him as "vengeance"...
