    Alternative looting system

While i was doing Syrcus tower for my second time i couldn't fail to notice how after each boss there were 1-5 items(depending on boss) that dropped and could be rolled by almost all players excluding job specifics.there was an encounter with an end game geared bard that ninja'd all the bard gear from everyone else because he had the right to roll. After contacting the gms they were kind to answer and discuss the matter but in the end nothing was really done.Yes i know you can loot multiple times St but the raids will keep coming and the patch raid will always allow you to loot one per week.So my suggestion is to at least make the raids not cuurently on the patch have a personal loot system. That way everyone can get something and ninja's wouldnt bother people seeking gear for alternative characters or characters new to the game.I m pretty sure the SE team can solve the ingredient type loot issue if it appeared so just at least think about this request if you would be so kind

The current system does make gearing up more of a grind than it has to be, and anyone lvling has my sympathy. Having said that you should be prepared to get a majority of forum users saying "Deal with it".

    Welcome to the FFXIV forums.

Well there's that 'you can't have more than one unique gear' but if fully geared, he'd just turn it in for gc seals the moment he get them anyways so it's kinda moot.

GC seals, gil, or desynthing. That's been the bane of me getting any gear with a greed roll. I ran a high level roulette the other day and got Wanderer's Palace. Everyone was WAY overgeared for the dungeon, but the tank and bard rolled need on every piece of gear they could roll need on. I'd like to see a desynth option similar to WoW where we could win the greed roll but get the desynth results of the item.

I love this idea, however the player should also be limited on a roll for this option if they don't have the crafting class + desynth level. I have to say I started leveling crafting for the first time this patch because of the direction square has taken beastman tribes and crafting in general, it adds an additional layer that was missing before and it's important. It really would take a lot away from crafters if everyone ever could roll for a desynth.

Is the OP complaint that this Bard was rolling Need, so she couldn't roll Greed and get something for a job she's not playing? That's not ninja looting. At all. The Need/Greed system makes ninja looting impossible in FFXIV.

She just wants it to have a limit so if only Bard equipment is dropped then the single said Bard cannot take everything. It is also a double-edged sword that way however it definitely seems more fair to at least make sure almost everyone gets rewarded.

I say the solution is to only let each person get one thing per run, you can run as much as you want, but if you take an oil you can't get a sand, if you take a piece of gear you can't get anything else till you're next run, it would operate much closer to how it used to, with people only taking what they need, just without the weekly cap.

Problem would be people getting an item, then leaving since it's pointless for them to continue on that run. Then, after each boss, the group has to wait for new people to join, catch up to the group, etc.
A quicker fix would be to make the oil/sand/unidentified stones one of each per run max. That way, a person could not win more than one of them in a run but likely spread out enough that we wouldn't get a churn in the group.

Though, personal loot does lead to a LOT less drama overall. It could even help with some of the queue times if they allow people to queue and get personal loot for their off-classes. For example, my WHM doesn't need any gear from ST.
However, my MNK does. So, I queue as WHM but my personal loot setting is MNK. Even better if I could queue as multiple classes, but have my own personal loot setting for just the one that I want.

This right here, 100%. It'd still impose a grind, but grinds can be good, until they become bad. But this post right here is a perfect solution. RNGatan has set up residence in ST lately, been seeing players who intentionally get locked out of Amon and Xande win sands and oil, players who spend more time eating dirt than hitting mobs win sands and oils, and UATs. Plural form, not just won. Players who burst their butts end up with rolls 13 and below. Seen it multiple, multiple runs.

From other people's point of view, I look like a monster. I'm a stupid woman who imagines she can create a happy life by piling up her sins
