    New Hardmode Dungeon Quest Cutscenes

    Hello,

    Heads up to people.

Just got really upset tonight. I had a group of people who had already done the quests to run through the new hard modes with me. Not wanting to waste their time, I skipped the cutscenes. To my surprise they are NOT watchable later... Whats up with that? Custscenes that are not watchable later should come with a warning or something...

Hope they add them to the journal eventually...

There is a check box in the options, I think it is on "k" keybind on PC. But you can check and un-check to play previously watched cutscenes.

Just watch them anyway next time. It's the same 15 second flyover you get for any dungeon, so it's hardly a time-breaker.

If you want to watch them, go ahead. If you wind up vote-kicked, note their names and report away! Watching a cutscene isn't any of the criteria for being vote-kicked so it'd be an abuse of the mechanic, warranting GM action.

Sadly, that is inaccurate. Groups can decide to kick people for watching cutscenes - that would be considered a "player dispute" and GMs would do nothing. GMs also don't lift a finger if people are kicked for being bad, going afk for 2 minutes, or because their gear isn't up to the rest of the party's expectations.

It is only considered vote kick abuse when the reason for kicking somebody is to harass them, as in, kicking them in front of the last boss out of spite to keep them from getting their dungeon clear, or kicking them before a treasure chest to cheat them out of their rightful chance at loot.

Vote kicking has the following options: Harassment, AFK, Offline, and cheating (i believe)
If it's not for one of those specified reasons, you can petition. If they had a problem with you watching cutscenes, then they should SAY something. If they votekick you, THEY are violating the rules since it's abuse of the votekick feature.

That is what one would assume, but it is not how SE does things. Ask a GM. The options you are given to select when starting a vote to kick somebody are not the only options you are perfectly allowed to kick people for. I saw a specific case where a DRG was kicked for causing 2 wipes by being inexperienced in a fight in coil 1. The other tank started raging and initiated a kickvote; I pressed no, but the kickvote went through anyway. I wrote up a report detailing the situation and had a conversation with a GM via tickets. Kicking someone for being bad, badly geared, watching cutscenes etc. is not vote kick abuse.

this is up to GM discretion, and usually requires a judgement call since being offensively bad at something can qualify as harassment if there is no effort made to adjust the behavior.
But it all boils down to communication. If the group says "We're skipping cutscenes, please skip them too." then sitting and letting the scenes roll constitutes harassment.
It's all about communication and context.

See, the point is, it doesn't have to "qualify as harassment" to work as a valid reason to kick. Disagreement on gameplay choices is all it needs. If the "majority" of the group decides it's a speedrun, people who want a slow run can be kicked. If the majority decides it's a no cutscenes run, cutscene watchers can be kicked. If the majority decides it's a high item level run, lower geared players can be kicked. And the "majority" has, in the GM's eyes, made its decision when the votekick went through. Communication is not a requirement. I wish SE had clearer and stricter rules on what is and what isn't vote kick abuse, I'm just telling you what their current stance seems to be.

Majority rule is fine and dandy, but if someone is kicked without a word edge-wise then it's easily grounds for some GM reports. And while talking about it beforehand is great, I can count the times there have been discussions on the matter with one hand in all my dungeon runs. Tanks rush off thinking everyone is there for a speed run all the time, often to spectacular wipes on the first group of mobs. Did they say anything? Not hardly. In fact, only once, last week, did I ever see a tank give a warning for large pulls. Once. I was taken aback at the thoughtfulness of it. But, again, if you want to watch the cutscenes, go right ahead. Sure, you're not the only person running the dungeon, but the same can be said of everyone else in that dungeon. Don't want to wait a minute for everyone to be ready, then maybe should be playing a different game.
