Once upon of time... dungeons gave shit exp and everyone depended on FATEs to level
Then SE made dungeons giving more exp, and followed the QQ DPS can't get in.
We just need an "I WIN" button, and make us all 50 and 1 shot all bosses

you should not have to play a job you don't want to in order to progress story wise...period
I agree op 100%
it will be a huge huge problem down the road for any new players if SE doesn't stop gating story advancement behind these dungeons.
an alternative needs to be developed by se , I seen this as an upcoming issue a longggg time ago. and although I wont personally be affected by it, it definitely is something se should be altering its design for soon.
its a bad design flaw imo, gating is bad...in any game and se is famous for it in xi and here as well

Too many existing players leveling Rogue/Ninja and not enough new players or old players without a healer and tank leveled leveling healers and tanks. It's also another bad thing about relying too much on instances, if dungeons were open world you could just walk in solo or in a party and wouldn't have to wait for a queue, without a queue popping there's not much else to do except FATEs, leves and your 10 or so log entries. Sure people would still crowd in open dungeons, but that already happens in FATE zones and it wouldn't be that different if they handled mob respawns and server loads correctly.

Queueing up solo for a Dungeon as a DPS will always be a problem, since there will always be more DPS then there are Tanks and Healers. Especially when it comes the older content. The 2 Main Story Dungeons in particular don’t give any special rewards, next to the (bonus) Tomestones at the end.
If you’ve never done those dungeons before and you wish to immerse yourself in the story of it, then you might find yourself ending up in a group that wants to rush to the end, skipping all the cutscenes and telling you that you should watch the cutscenes at the inn in your own time.
Unfortunately, this is a reality that SE can’t solve by just increasing the EXP rewards, since most of the people in those dungeons have already reached the EXP cap. There is no benefit in there for them.
As a few others have already mentioned, your best bet would be to create a party in the party finder specifically saying that you want to watch the cutscenes and that new players are welcome. Next to that, ask people from the FC if they would like to help out.
This is my main priority as a member/officer of an FC. If people in my FC want to queue up for one of the Main Story Quest dungeons or need dungeons/trials from the Relic Reborn quests, they can always ask for my help. Otherwise they might just be wasting time waiting for the queue to pop.
The things is, we can’t force people to help out. It’s a choice they need to make for themselves. SE tried to solve that by adding the Roulette Dungeons (with the Tomestone and Gil bonus you get after finishing the dungeon) as well as giving an additional Tomestone bonus if the group has at least 1 player that hasn’t cleared the content before.
The next step to improve queue times should not be solved by adding more rewards for people helping out, but more in a sense that you can use different means like lowering the amount of people you need for a dungeon, or filling up the open slots with NPC’s/Companions. They should not do that for every dungeon though. Just the ones that really need it, in this case for the ones used in the older Main Story content.
Dungeon finders in all games have been the worst for dps classes

The solution to this problem is to make the 'adventurer in need' bonus something like 100k. Then you would be here complaining about how tanks and healers are getting so much free gil to help you level ninja instead.
Just pay someone to tank queue with you, or do FATEs like everyone else.
Mmm, but new players attracted by the 2.4 update may not have the luxury, knowledge, or patience to do so. Plus, some dungeons are required to proceed with main story, so queueing isn't avoidable. It's a shame if they get a bad first impression of the game. The solution to this problem is to make the 'adventurer in need' bonus something like 100k. Not if they roll tank or healer they won't![]()
