Crafting Mats in Dungeons - 2.4 Edition

    Why.....

5 Dungeon Runs later, over 80% of our loot was crafting materials.

Sure, you did a neat thing with the "Antique" Gear & many people favor this method.

However, now it's that much harder to get the piece you want b/c 4/4 players roll on Antique Drops (at least in DF).

In lieu of this, Crafting Mats especially have no place here.

Additionally, any word on breaking the cycle of *severely outdated* gear in Dungeons?

2.4 Dungeons drops 2.0 Myth Gear from OVER A YEAR AGO for those who don't know.

Not saying 2.4 Dungeons should drop SCOB-equivalent Gear but i105 would've been appropriate.

If you're worried about fresh 50's gearing too quickly, simply increase the minimum ilvl requirement for entrance.

Lastly, please tell me Fenrir will return... his fight & defeat were both very anticlimactic & plain.

I know this isn't FFXI, I've just always loved the wolf-archetype & felt Fenrir -in general- should be showcased a little more in the franchise.

8-Man Trial would've suited him a lot better IMO... but *sigh*, grasping at straws at this point sadly.

Yeah the crafting mat drops in dungeons really are unnecessary.
You can already buy them for city state currency.

The gear drops from dungeons has been following a progression just as steady as the gear progression everywhere else.

    2.0 (WP/AK): i55
    2.1 (Sirius/Haukke HM/Copper HM): i60
    2.2 (LCoA/Halatali HM/Brayflox HM): i70
    2.3 (Hullbreaker/Vigil HM/Tam-Tara HM): i80
    2.4 (Snowcloak/Sas HM/Qarn HM): i90

Dungeon drops are meant to be a tier lower than what can be purchased with tomestones, as they are used to help players catch up more quickly.

As for the mat drops... I don't know what to tell you other than to level crafting and make some money off of those mats. =\

I really like that something besides equipment drops in dungeons and I definitely hope crafting materials continue to drop in dungeons. I think however, they should make it so the chests that drop potions have a decent chance to drop the crafting materials, and all the boss chests still have a chance to drop crafting materials but have a much higher chance to drop equipment. I also think a 2nd chest should be added to the final boss. Since there was really no reason to do dungeons in patch 2.3 thanks to Hunts I hadn't done any in a long time. Now that poetics are out and we're doing dungeons again, I can certainly see the complaint about the drops in dungeons. I have done many dungeons where not a single piece of equipment dropped. Makes me feel bad for people who are actually new and could actually benefit from the equipment.

Personally, I like that crafting mats drop. They are overall, more useful than the gear...esp if THIS time around the gear isn't even worth it for glamour purposes. (Since many already have it). I stockpile all the crafting mats I get b/c who knows when i'll need them...and they aren't exactly 'cheap' if you have to buy them via GC seals. I get the /letdown , but I don't mind getting crafting mats....it makes the dungeons drops relevant longer as it's not a 'i farmed what I want now I pass all the things' thing.

I feel as though dungeons will always be meant for glamour purposes or for stacking up on seals. Hopefully the expansion breaks the mold a bit. I don't mind crafting materials in dungeons, but please, put them off to the side and make the bosses actually drop loot.

As for Fenrir, yeah... a watered down version of Amdapor Keep's final boss. Just hide behind the singular ice pillar and win. Can't say I'm surprised though. Just surprised that Ultros was more of a challenging fight than Fenrir.

I feel like we complained about this before and they responded in a way that sounded like they heard us. What happen?

I mean they could have at least made sure chests dropped one mat and one gear piece instead of two mats.

Personally I don't mind crafting drops coming from dungeons. I'd rather see that than some needless grind elsewhere as a form to obtain them.

As for the iLvL drops in dungeons, there's nothing wrong with that. Pushing it to iLvL 105 would instantly nullify the point of the soldiery tomes which the same dungeons give. As those grant access to iLvL 100 gear which may be upped to iLvL 110 with sands and oils. Asides from that, it would also make dungeons real easy, real fast. With pugs these dungeons actually pose a bit of a challenge to them again. It is clearly apparent. If they screw up, due to the lower gear they'll very rapidly die.

I went in with an FC group last night though as iLvL 110 monk, and I could simply ignore any form of tactic in snowcloak. I would have sufficient hp left. Things simply became the usual cake walk again. These dungeons aren't aimed at posing a challenge at the higher iLvL's. So beneficial for the experience is going by it the way it's now. For those who rapidly want to obtain higher iLvL gear, there's always SCoB which can be farmed these days for pieces.

I'm just over here weeping over the requirements to make a single piece of Wootz gear.... Why... all my why.

    Why wasn't this fixed?!

Now it'll be even harder to get gear than before...

And I agree, we need a harder-difficulty options for Dungeons (a real one).
