The cycle of disbanding that keep casuals from doing content

Sure is depressing to read through 19 pages of this. I dumped WoW almost 4 years ago because of the "leetz" mentality of us-against-them, and this thread shows that ffxiv has the same kind of problem. Is it just human nature or did ex-WoW raiders somehow flood this game post-ARR?

I mean, carelessly making unemphatic assumptions that people are just "terrible players" and "lazy to take the initiative"? Is this the supposedly superior FF community I've been hearing about?

Sorry if this is off-topic, but I'm just surprised at the mentality of players in what's supposed to be a new generation, AAA MMORPG. If some of you are representative of most of the veteran players and their attitude, I can't imagine why newbies would want to play beyond the free 30-day.

My post wasn't necessarily a jab at you, but that's your call. I simply called out the kind of attitude I faced years ago in a cartoony MMO that hasn't aged well, and that I'm surprised the same issues are in a brand new, highly polished game like ffxiv.

You assume that, on the other hand I assume that most people try their best to carry their weight in any group content. Having played healer classes almost exclusively in my MMO history, I know what putting in effort means, rest assured.

I just think that the OP and those who agree with them might just have a problem that could be worked on by SE, rather than veteran players trying to obfuscate their feedback with insults, cynicism, lack of empathy and assumptions because the latter think such feedback is not valid in their eyes.

I am merely proposing a solution, which has worked quite well for me and other people I know, in multiple occasions and in multiple games. It's always the same story. Some people are willing to take matters into their hands, creating and managing communities - others just want things served on a platter. It's human nature, sadly.

The OP states that most FCs require 3 nights a week - well, I'm not on his server but I am part of a FC and a static that only raids 2 times a week, and we are on T10. Most of us have family and jobs. We are no "hardcore" by any stretch of imagination.

How could this happen? Because someone decided to put a bit of effort into it, decided to search and manage people with similar views of the game and similar mindset. Everyone can do that, it just requires initiative.

But yeah, lots of people keep hoping to clear Coil easily using PF or DF, only to go whine (yes, this is whining) on the forums, refusing to see that there ARE other solutions to this "problem" just because they are too troublesome for them, so it's best to ignore them and hoping that screaming enough will convince SE to barge in and help.

Call me however you want - cynical, lacking empathy or whatever - seems to me I am not the one insulting, here :/
