    Old Weather Animation Graphics - What do you like more in the Old Version of FFXIV?

    Dont get me wrong, most of the things are better in the new Version of FFXIV. But sometimes i remember those times.. as a legacy player...

    having these great weather effects and sounds.. wide open world regions. of course mostly there was not much to see except realistic environments.

    But thats what i did like about Final Fantasy XIV.. it felt organic and real.. and it had a huge OpenWorld.



    I would love it.. if they could get back these great weather animations. I mean the sky.. the thunder and all. What we do have now looks very cartoonish in my opinion. far away from being real.


    Do you also think there is a possibility to get rid of loading screens and put all regions together to an openworld when they end the support for the ps3? Seems very unlikely huh?

    Especially in the video you can see how much more superior and qualitative the old weather system looked like.. :

    It does look nice, but it probably would have made it a bit too intensive for the mainstream PC gamer to run without choking.

    Yep, Yoshi P said a while back that one of the main problems that ver 1.0 had is that some object textures where so high that they had the same ammount of polygons as a playble character which made loading times and lag in towns a huge issue, sure, everything looked really nice in ver 1.0 but it wasn't the smoothest game in terms of lag or optimization, my computer struggled sometimes while running the game on high.

    I actually think they made the right choice with the textures in ARR.

    Seamless zones from 1.0. It felt like a 'world' albeit empty, but it felt massive.

    I miss the character animations and cut scenes as well. The running animations were unique for all races and had more weight behind them when turning, stopping etc. As for the cutscenes, since they went with a seemingly separate engines for the CS and gameplay they seemed to do a lot more with them without being restricted by the animations of the in game models.

    You do realize that the DX11 version will probably add back all of the textures we once had in 1.0, right?

    Why did FF 14 launch without DX11?

    Nope. Yoshi confirmed no new textures. Only lighting changes. Because "nobody notices the textures".
