    SE doesn't need to break the Trinity system for a support class. They can simply make 5 man content, 3 straight DPS or 2 straight DPS, 1 DPS- Support. AION's Chanter and Songweaver classes are good examples of this working.

    BRD is already a DPS/ Half-arsed Support, to fix it; they just need to add songs for an HP HoT, Attack speed, and Attack at the cost of 25% - 30% damage dealt by the caster, make everything 5 man and done!

    Also, do you really want to do away with trinity? can you imagine the crapfest to follow in DF groups if they were to take it off? Maybe not so much on Atomos, but man when I get a group of Tonberrian E-Players, it's an absolute nightmare. . . .I can't even imagine what it's like on NA servers. . .and I don't want to imagine how'd it be if they did get rid of it. . .m mmmm mm, nasty.

    I love support roles. I want them, no matter what the cost. Sometimes I will say to my static, "I am willing to sacrifice all of your lives in order to keep GL3 up." In the same vein, I am willing to burn Eorzea to the ground if I can play a support role.

    I think the trinity is fine.

    Some classes could stand to have more utility added though.
    e.g. A silence for DRG/BLM/WAR

    The trinity used to be heal/tank/CC-Regen... with the rest of group filled with dps... there were 4 roles.

    Now classes are so self supportive and encounters are so overly managed, that there's not a need for support.

    I loved playing enchanter in EQ. That wouldn't work in this game- enemies are weak, regen is fast, and groups are AEd down, not controlled.

    ^well, granted if a Support/Control role were introduced that would change.

    Which I think it ought anyways, most trash in this game is entirely mindless/zergable.

    There really isn't a good way to add such a class/job as it would mean re-programming all the boss encounters in the game to counter/resist all of the new abilities such a class would add. The only real way to do this would be to add a new class/job which would be:
    class/ Jack of all Trades: Which would use ONLY cross-class abilities leading to,
    Job: Clone: Which would repeat the last used ability of the highlighted party member.

    I don't think we should break the trinity, for the reasons listed by the very first response. An interesting battle system, i think, relies on someone being able to soak damage, someone being able to make the health bars go up, and then some people who make bad health bars go down. I've played games that claim to "have no trinity" and, to me, it just ends up as a mob brawl. People running all over the place doing self heals, waiting to lose aggro, and repeat.

    However, that isn't to say I don't want to see more unique and support type roles, especially since I am a support type player as well. First one thing people need to accept is that the days of being a support role being only buffing or debuffing are gone, and honestly as a former ff11 bard, I don't think I'd want to go back to that. This is the way I envision something like that working. You would have a support type job, Dancer for example, and the core of the job would be based around it's 1 > 2 > 3 combo. Where the support would come in would be replacing number 3 in that combo. Instead of say Rhythm Cut > Spinning Slash > Flourish (which would do damage) you could do Rhythm Cut > Spinning Slash > Quick Step which would give the party a small haste buff for 10-15 seconds. The goal being to find a way to optimize damage while also optimizing dances to keep the party buffed/enemy debuffed.

    If they did decide to do these more hybridish roles I think they would have to change it to 5 man small content, but I think 8 would still be fine for full party content. However, the extra slot wouldn't just be for "hybrid classes" it would a slot for any dps job.

    NO... in GW2, the game end up just DODGE spamming, stack. Skilless game, noobish gameplay and boss fight. Yes I've played that game since beta and all legendaries, my expression is coming from my experience about a game without trinity is BAD idea. The GW2 game has no sense of purpose in each class, you just spam skills. Having all class can self heal, tank and etc. Basically all class become meaningless of role. Support class are coming, coming patch and expansion. Isn't Dark Knight Tank DPS role?...
