I used my Apple's ear buds instead of my g930 headset. Same problem; no sound and still blackscreen. So the problem can't be the headset.
So i think there's something wrong with the FF14 game files or it's my computer...

That cuts the device out of the equation, but then opens up the cause to a huge array of possibilities...
and there seems to be no end of cases of this issue occuring on 8.1 . . . this might take awhile to find some suggestions.

or its just windows 8.1 and its 'features' screwing things up.

Hmm. So I system restored to 10/22/14 and I still had the problem. However when I updated my nvidia card. Now the problem is fixed! lol
But sometimes I get the problem and other times I don't..at least its not constant
