    Monk Novus Question

Posted this in Items, Synth & Gathering but didn't get any response so trying here

There seems to be a lot of discussion regarding SkS vs Crit on Monk Novus weapons. To the best of my knowledge SkS is a bigger DPS increase but more taxing on TP, which is why people are using Crit instead. Not worried about cost, I can always spirit bond/earn more gil. Which way do most of your end game Monks go? Thanks in advance.

Most of us go for crit because when you eventually get to a fight with full or next to full uptime TP will be an issue to an extent pending length of the fight. If you start going much over 4 minutes assuming no bard to play Paeon you're going to be about dry. So if you start stacking up on skill speed then that number will start dropping. In terms of DPS gain/loss you'll see similar results between the two stats, but TP consumption will be a concern the higher you take your skill speed.

Edit: This is totally a personal opinion, but I like to have around 400 skill speed, and once I start getting more my combos start getting a little more out of whack on DOT timings. Less works, but doesn't seem to flow as well for me. Once you get high enough skill speed things would start syncing up better again eventually from going through combos at a faster rate.
