So I originally replied to a thread here http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...41#post2545341. But i would like to also paste my reply here and expand on the topic.
I don't like being the minority, but I wouldn't want this. It would devalue desynthesis so much, which is my personal reason and you can dislike it alll you want, just remember you are, in my opinion, begging for help and I'm begging for exclusivity.
Just as you can't use a crafting materials without the crafting class, you cannot desynthesize a specific item without the corresponding desynthesis class. Besides, you can already do this by giving the item to someone and them giving you the things they got from desynthesizing it and ironically[because, of all the items, fish?!] it seems like trading fish to do this is very popular.
Your problem is not the absence of "request desynthesis". It is the problem of having too much unnecessary unique/untradable locks on items. If the items were tradable it would be the exact opposite of giving items so someone to craft for you, which obviously, we can do with a little bit of trust and faith.
Besides why is desynthesis being compared to materia melding, anyway? The only thing that desynthesis compared to is the opposite: crafting. Just because it is the easiest solution? Perhaps I'm just being selfish, but making things easier with the most simple solution is not always the best. And actually, I think the easiest solution would be to rip the unique/untradable lock off the items but that would kill the corresponding content and turn it into a gil factory and I doubt SE wants that.
