If you go to sell an item you can also buy from NPC, it will be great you cannot set a price higher than NPC one.

sometimes people pay for convenience, and some of us would like to profit off of that convenience. the patch notes stated about where the vendors were with the bridesmaid/best man outfits and the emperors new accessories. It sucks if you were one of the people that paid several hundred thousand for it. The NPC sells at a lower price. if you don't like the market board price don't pay it. You have an option.
Some of us are also crafters and gatherers, and we would like to see some profit from the things we make and gather, some of which could also be obtained from NPCs. We provide these things for you so you don't have to track down the NPC. its not fair to us to spend money so you can pay the same price without going to the NPC.
If people are unwilling to travel or research where to find something that a vendor sells, that's their problem. Restricting people's ability to sell that item at the going market price, which includes a convenience cost, is asinine.
.
....that and we already have to deal with market tax.
Why? If you want to buy it from the vendor then go run, tele or airship to the vendor.
As in real life you can grow your own veggies for pennies (gatherer), pay a little more at a grocery store because someone else did all the work (vendor), or pay even a little bit more at a convenience store because it's closer to your home (marketboard).
So, it isn't that your kind will rip off the player that doesn't knew the item is for sale on NPC, but you are providing a very valuable service because the player hadn't to make a teleport or worse, had also to use a mount for some seconds to get the item, instead. Impressive. Sorry if I got the wrong impression.
If you can't take the short amount of time to teleport, use a mount or whatever to pay NPC prices, thats you're deal. I mean, not trying to scam or be mean, but why should I go through any trouble to craft something or go through the trouble for you and not see anything out of it. It's not a charity board. So, it isn't that your kind will rip off the player that doesn't knew the item is for sale on NPC, but you are providing a very valuable service because the player hadn't to make a teleport or worse, had also to use a mount for some seconds to get the item, instead. It goes both ways at the same time really. Players also purchase overpriced items whilst the vendor is standing right next to the marketboards. Such as low level jewelry, low level crafting/gathering equipment, and a few other items. Literally not even 10 seconds away. That has very little to do with service. Does form an easy income out of those who can't be bothered to check up value of items. And to be fair is not something people ought to feel sorry for players for. It's very easy to check what the value of an item is, for how much it sells, etc. It's not as if third party websites are required in this game. Even the FFXIV lodestone has its own item db which states exactly where items can be found.
I'm curious... what is your general understanding of Economics ? Is your local grocery store "ripping you off" because "their kind" charge $1 for an apple? So, it isn't that your kind will rip off the player that doesn't knew the item is for sale on NPC, but you are providing a very valuable service because the player hadn't to make a teleport or worse, had also to use a mount for some seconds to get the item, instead. In the sloppy colloquialism that is imprecise day-to-day language, the fact that a merchant makes a profit selling someone else's product is a rip-off. But that is being blind to the fact that pricing is flexible and it more than just cost (materials + labor).
The fact that RMT does impact the market is no justification for price controls. It is irrelevant to this discussion. People that use RMT are not going blow even $1USD on useless items, even if they have more money than brains, they are not that stupid. They value their money more than anyone else actually. Many people put stuff out there for ridiculous prices because it is extra storage, and if it really sells for the ridiculous amount more power to them.
