Is it worth it for the loss of CP? (usually I'm so used to eating HQ Bouillabasse)

It depends on your rotation, but control is the easiest requirement to hit with gear, you don't even need your supra to hit it. I'd worry about gearing up first before you start on 4 star crafting, unless your FC doesn't mind you using the craft/control buffs anytime you need to craft something.

    Hi Bik,

Thanks. Actually my gear is max melded w/ a Supra and Offhand is Quad-Melded Tier IVs. Tne only thing I didn't upgrade yet is the New Artisan's Hands, Pants and Feet (which is like a Chicken-and-Egg Catch 22?)... I mean I can't craft the new 4 Star Recipes I unlocked without Control Food or the FC Buffs to *get* the Artisans Pants that should then help me craft 4 Stars better? Hm...

Anybody already crafted any offhands? I did my first one today and failed at 31% using Supra tool and all other items from 2.3 (418 Craft/392 Control) using my regular 3 star item rotation. :-(

I had a bit of bad luck with Hasty touch but it still felt like it is hard to HQ them even if not 5 out of 9 would have failed. But it is hard to tell with so many fails after all so I don't know for real. I was unpleasantly surprised to see that even after getting all three items in HQ that are possible (including Wolfram) it lead to a woppin' 4% start quality. What rotation did you use to HQ one of them and what are your stats?

You have two options when you get unlucky like you did: Take a 69% chance of NQ, or Reclaim and take a 10% chance of losing everything. I'd have reclaimed, personally, and if the reclaim failed, I'd stop crafting for a while. If you can't use the NQ one usefully, have someone with 100 desynth skill of the right type (CRP/BSM) desynth it for you. Someone you trust! You can get back Echtal Sealant, though it's not a guaranteed chance. I feel like there's a chance you can even get HQ sealant back, which would either raise your chances a ton, or you could sell it for a fortune.

Thankfully, I've HQed both of my offhands that I've made so far. One was 80%, the other was 100%. It all comes down to luck. I would still recommend HQing all of the base materials, as that 650 base quality is much better than 0, though it still sucks. A lot.

I use this rotation for 3 star crafts. http://i.imgur.com/1MQpZwq.jpg

For 4 stars, I just have to add one Piece by Piece at the beginning and remove one Hasty Touch from the rotation. Pretty consistent way to get HQ if you start with HQ materials.

(Note: Since I have so much CP, I tend to replace the last few Hasty touches with Advanced Touch)

Here is the rotation I'm using to get the HQ Turn-Ins for the Master Books II's.

    Two notes:
    - To get this to work, you need 3 tricks procs to go off.
    - The perfect synth 2 at the end is really Careful Synth 2.

    Thanks Lito!

This helped me out a lot. I got very lucky with RNG with this Rotation, but it was the most organized / easy to understand *for myself* to follow. (Highest was 85% HQ on a Good Light proc at the end, lowest was a 19% HQ.)

I got my 3 HQ Turn Ins with 6 Outright Fails (NQ or Blown Up) (and lots of successful Reclaims).

I tried a few rotations people were suggesting here, but I got tripped up on if I needed to *renew* Steady Hand II (when going for the Tricks of the Trade Procs). Because in going for "every Tricks of the Trade" (on some of the other rotations suggested), my Steady Hand II kept falling off early.

I didn't know if I should or shouldn't renew the SHII, so I did, which ended up screwing up the rotation / flow on a few of those other ones.

As Nya and many others have said, I'd recommend Patience. Follow the rotation that works for you and don't get greedy.

Lastly, to the Dev Team: These 4 Star Crafted Turn-In Items for the Master Recipe Book II are AWFUL. This is just bad design. I hated the whole process and it was one of the worst experiences I've gone through in Crafting in FF XIV (far worse than sitting in a corner in 1.0 breaking down Crystals into Shards for hundreds of times to level up Alchemy back in the day).

A crafting simulator I'm using gives me a success rate of 45% with that, and an average HQ chance of only 30%. Of course, that's averaging things out, and not taking into account Reclaims. A near-perfect run in the simulator just gave me a 78% chance, though that was about 3 in 20 so far (the other 17 were NQ or failures, btw). I don't like those odds...

The worst part about the posted macro is that when you do the BB with no SH up, you don't have enough CP to reclaim if the BB fails. You're banking everything on that 90% chance, after already taking a bunch of chances. That's... pretty risky.

Using a more cautious rotation like I've been doing, I can get a chance of ~24% with about a 95% chance of success.
