Oh! Something I never knew, but just read on Reddit. Ingenuity/Ingenuity II do nothing for quality on 3*+ crafts. That... really surprises me. Can anyone else confirm that this is true? That changes everything, for me, as it gives me an extra 32 CP, but means I'll need to get all my crafters to 430 craft before working on their tokens (my rotation requires 430 if I drop Ing2: 3 PbP + 4 CS2).

Hmnm, or I can try this Rumination idea that was just posted from Reddit....

Thanks for posting your rotation. Not sure which is better... but I tend to take rotations and combine the best elements with each other as much as possible.

As for the comment on Ingenuity/Ingenuity II, could you post a link? This is also the first time I'm hearing about it.

While I hate Rapid Synthesis with a passion, I think I'm going to start using it on these synths. By the way, the following combinations will finish the token synths:
    1. (5 hits, requires 405 Craft, 55 CP, 41% success, 80% final success): 2 PbP + 3 SH2/Rapid
    2. (5 hits, requires 409 Craft, 70 CP, 47% success, 80% final success): 3 PbP + 2 SH2/Rapid
    3. (5 hits, requires 404 Craft, 87 CP, 52% success, 100% final success): 2 PbP + 2 Ing2/SH2/Rapid + CS2
    4. (6 hits, requires 393 Craft, 119 CP, 65% success, 100% final success): 2 PbP + 1 Ing2/SH2/Rapid + 3 Ing2/CS2 (don't use this one, it's terrible)
    5. (6 hits, requires 410 Craft, 87 CP, 65% success, 100% final success): 2 PbP + 1 Ing2/SH2/Rapid + 2 Ing2/CS2 (use the Ing2 from the Rapid) + CS2
    6. (7 hits, requires 401 Craft, 77 CP, 73% success, 100% final success): 3 PbP + 3 CS2 + 1 Ing2/CS2
    7. (7 hits, requires 430 Craft, 45 CP, 73% success, 100% final success): 3 PbP + 4 CS2

I really can't think of any others even worth considering.

I really like using the last one on that list, #7. It has a low chance of failure and the final synth is a 100% one. #3 (what the above poster recommended), is nice too, but you have to be ready to reclaim if any of those Rapids fail. Or, I guess, you could just use Rapid again... it doesn't cost any more than a failed Hasty Touch, so I guess my success rates aren't as meaningful as I thought. Anyway, food for thought!

EDIT: Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I'm willing to admit that #3 is awesome. Try it!

Both ideas are wrong. Ing provides a very small control bonus on both 3*/4* crafts. This is a misconception that is popularized by simulators. It's not really worth it for 4*s.

Rumination rotations statistically speaking will never provide you enough CP to replace itself. The rotation was intentionally nerfed hard during the beta. Rumination should only be used for low level crafting, as well as Rumination -> Reclaim escapes

If the rumination "rotation" doesn't work please explain the screen shot from the thread with the turn in item at 89% HQ on step 50. Since your doing steady hand II (25) + hasty touch (0) + Inner Quiet (18) so the rotation is costing 43 so assuming all the Hasty touches work you'd be at 6 stacks which Rumination should turn into 45 CP. And while doing this you can have comfort zone running and get ToT for bonus CP.

I'm not saying its going to allow you to get to 100000 turn synths but saying its useless is well wrong.

The durability loss is a cost. A big one - about 28 CP per touch, which you aren't factoring in. So, that rotation isn't costing 43, it's costing ~183, all for a tiny bit of quality and nothing else. Remember, you still need to get ~10 stacks of IQ after you're done ruminating.

In regards to that screenshot, I can only imagine that's an edge case. My rotation can theoretically hit 100% if you hit every single Good condition proc possible and then BB on an Excellent with GS up. Does that mean my rotation is a 100% rotation? Hardly! It's generally about 18%. When I ran the Rumination rotation through a simulator, even assuming perfect chances, I was only seeing about a 20% average case. Without rumination, I was seeing about a 30% average case.

I strongly believe that Rumination is not the answer. But, I could easily be wrong. I'll still stick with my rumless rotations.

I'm kind of new to this "actually trying to make things with stars" thing. Actually, I pretty much suck at crafting in general, so forgive me for asking a dumb question.

So I'm having an odd issue with some of these suggested rotations for getting the HQs for the books. I'm completing the ones with early progresses about 1/4 of the way through. Is it because my craftsmanship is too high? I had eaten an HQ chilled popoto soup, and my FC action for control and craftsmanship are on. This puts me at 505 crafting and 420 control after taking all my gear and materia into account.

Should I try a different food? Wait for the buff to wear? Am I going about this the wrong way?
