...why does everything have to revolve around numbers and DPS anyway? (If that's how someone would interpret this.) Barely any content that actually "needs" those "DPS checks" to be passed, and people doing those can pass them anyway. Other than that - yeah, if it's not fun for you, don't play it. Each to their own, it's not like there aren't other options. o.o
summoner is my go-to dps
smn main checking in. Still play and will continue.. even if they try to get us to quit with all this Spell speed! *grumble grumble*
Other way around. Summoners have been nerfed through gear and mechanics, and BLM has been buffed proportionally as the gear that is terrible for SMN is great for BLM. I cleared T9 as a SMN, but I'll be switching to BLM in the coming weeks as the item levels rise and the gap becomes more apparent.
For mechanics, many more things are lethal or dangerous to pets, and pets do not benefit the group in what we've seen of final coil the same way they did in second coil and first coil (eg, sharing the damage from thermionic beam or being in a soak group for twintania).
That said, if you're not in a progression group, it's still fun to play. It's just frustrating that it's being edged out this patch for seemingly no reason - but BLM players probably felt the same way when 2.2 came out.
Really? Apparently T11 is crap for BLMs due to the amount of AoE dodging. My friend who duals BLM/SMN who downed T11 last night (Tonberry 1st) said that he will never play BLM in T11 and it is "useless". Of course he is usually harsh with his words but given his skills and credentials I think there should be a good reason to believe so. (I just started a little on T10 last night because I have been crafting 4 stars and also member schedules).Other way around. Excuse me, why are people calling her/him names?? State your opinions as you please but the name calling and personal attacks are unnecessary. Yeah, the post was a bit out there but the extra wasn't called for.
Yeah I never use Summoner anymore. Except for things like:
- When I'm in open world and need my own personal tank to pop up and summon Titan-egi. Hell I'm practically my own Light Party between me, my pet, and my Chocobo
- When I'm in PVP and want to direct attacks against two distinct targets at the same time using Garuda-egi as my remote machine turret and OSK'er off a cliff (I swear I can hear her laugh when she does this)
- When I'm doing new 4-man content (like the just-released dungeons) with a party that wants to work out solutions ourselves and I don't want the healer to shoulder the sole burden of having no one in the party to res them if they get OSK'd
- Killing mobs with relatively enmity generation by spreading 3 DOT's that can be charged up with Raging Strikes and Foe Requiem, extended with a pet CD, and spreading to 3 nearby enemies with Bane which doesn't break binds and doesn't wake from sleep. SMN and BLM synergize nicely. You can DOT and they can sleep; can bind and they can Flare.
- Having my own entourage trail me around wherever I go... some people only have a minion willing to follow them, and that's just sad.
