Mmm the scarcity comment isn't entirely true. It adds value, but it doesn't always add demand... at least not in this context. Think of rare pets that have been around for a while, just for example, and how they aren't exactly selling like hotcakes despite low stock. The higher the cost (due to added value), the less likely it is to sell... assuming it's out of the budget of the average player. Any demand that has increased as a result of scarcity is temporary here, as alternatives are generally going to be available for your goal result. Or perhaps the consumer just loses interest (as is often the case with things like rare pets).
