I don't like being the minority, but I wouldn't want this. It would devalue desynthesis so much.

Just as you can't use a crafting materials without the crafting class, you cannot desynthesize a specific item without the corresponding desynthesis class.

Besides, you can already do this by giving the item to someone and them giving you the things they got from desynthesizing it.

Your problem is not the absence of "request desynthesis". It is the problem of having too much unnecessary unique/untradable locks on items. If the items were tradable it would be the exact opposite of giving items so someone to craft for you, which obviously, we can do with a little bit of trust and faith.

You can't seriously expect raid tier weapons and equipment to be tradable though, even if it's old content. This doesn't do anything to de-value synthesis aside from allow non-crafting players to supply more desynth opportunities/materials to people who do craft. If the only thing keeping desynth prices up is the inability of either skill or desire of someone to go and clear Coil 1 and breakdown the mats then maybe it should be devalued? Because as it stands now as soon as crafters decide Coil 1 isn't worth their time anymore these materials cease to circulate.

No I can't expect it, that's even more ridiculous but also more simple, in my opinion. Desynthesis is simple not popular, and perhaps you don't realize how much of a effect that has on the economy. And desynthesis has been devalued, you just haven't noticed.

And WHY should it be devalued just because, as you say, no one wants to do it? That is dumb. Sigh. If the materials cease to circulate then the price of items will go up and it will then promote the circulation of said items and WA-BAM your problem is solved. Scarcity breeds demand, my friend.

Mmm the scarcity comment isn't entirely true. It adds value, but it doesn't always add demand... at least not in this context. Think of rare pets that have been around for a while, just for example, and how they aren't exactly selling like hotcakes despite low stock. The higher the cost (due to added value), the less likely it is to sell... assuming it's out of the budget of the average player. Any demand that has increased as a result of scarcity is temporary here, as alternatives are generally going to be available for your goal result. Or perhaps the consumer just loses interest (as is often the case with things like rare pets).
