Another Housing screw-over.

Another patch goes live; another round of cascading layers of housing disappointment. Even assuming that you are one of the players who saved up the necessary chunk of gil to buy a house outright, and even assuming that you were willing to wake up at 4 am EST when the servers went live to camp it, the manifold server errors prevented log-on outright for a good twenty to thirty minutes; and only let certain users on sporadically for another half hour.

I was a lucky one who got on Balmung almost as soon as it was actually possible to do so, and I saw that literally every desirable small plot (such as plot 29/59) of the Lavender Beds had already been purchased before I logged on. As I write now, almost every small house is gone in the Lavender Beds after 30 minutes of open servers; about half to two-thirds of the smalls in Mist are gone; and the Goblet is lagging behind at about one third of the small houses already bought.

I am not even interested in buying a house for myself this patch; but I am saddened again by this 'feature'. Housing should require an investment of time and effort to acquire; but it shouldn't require the sort of effort that makes you wake up at 4 am EST and spam a server for even a CHANCE to get the plot you want, with the odds being that you'll be homeless again until the next patch.

Instead of building community, Yoshi and the Dev Team is making their players fight each other for elite content.

Yep. Spent literally weeks with my girlfriend saving up 7 million Gil for a small house, we went to sleep early just so we could login and get a house. Except for some reason I was completely unable to login, and of course my character has the gil on her, so yep. Weeks wasted. She was totally able to login but for no reason at all I am still as of right now completely unable to login. Great.

EDIT: Oh, and this is after they posted that the login issues have been fixed. So they aren't fixed.

At this point, I'd rather be stuck with no house, than being broke and stuck with one I didn't want (thanks to an irl screwup).

Huh, I woke up, had 5 minutes of login trouble, and managed to get the one I wanted (with 15 minutes of wandering the new subdivisions and scoping the view. Maybe it's just me.

But hey, you're "not interested" in housing but felt such a chafing in the loins to whine about it. Update: saw your history. You're really uninterested housing. Soooo uninterested.

It's not just you or just OP, our server (Diabolos) is not as stacked as Balmung, when 2.38 came out our small plots filled at like 1/10 the speed of Balmung, if I recall correctly Balmung and I think Excalibur ran out in a matter of minutes.

No need to be so belligerent. I'm very interested in the housing feature, and want a house very badly. If you can read, what I said was (emphasis added):

So better luck next time. As to your personal experience, glad to hear that you, on your server, had no problems and got what you wanted. However, other servers had problems, and other people (lots of them) didn't get what they wanted. Hence the complaint.

In a way, you're proving my point. Glad you are one of the lucky few who got a house that you wanted, while legions of other players--with saved-up gil, desire, and willingness--stand with their hands empty.
