If it was Nabriales, his name would have been shown instead of "???"

At the end of the Shiva fight she said something like "Forgive them my beloved..."

Is she talking about her dragon lover? Was St. Shiva's dragon lover midgardsomar? Perhaps they're fighting to reclaim that offspring

Might be we get to visit the wreckage of the Agrius after all... perhaps as 2.5's new dungeon? Either way, with 2.5 being the last major patch we know of before Heavensward, there are a lot of threads left to be tied up and adressed, unless they're planning to leave them all open to deal with in the expansion. In any case, it's clear the situation in Ul'dah is coming to a head, and that would be my first guess for the focus of 2.5. The Ascians no doubt will continue well into 3.0, perhaps even beyond, as will Garlemald. Iceheart and Shiva also gave us a lot of hints at the war between Dravania and Ishgard, meaning that the conflict is probably not at all as black and white as Ishgard would have us believe. How can it be, after all, with the Ascians influencing the Holy See, as seen at the end of 2.3? The biggest surprise, for me, was the sudden re-emergence of Midgarsorm into the main story. What connection does the Keeper of the Lake have not only with the primals, but with the war between Dravania and Ishgard? Will he truly be resurrected? If so, how? He has been dead for at least a decade, has he not?

So many questions, so little answers. Regardless I feel that this patch was the best we got so far in terms of story content.

As a small side-note, I also found the revelation of Sastasha (Hard) to be very interesting, by which I mean how the pirates were transformed into sea-creatures ala Pirates of the Caribbean by overexposure to water-aspected aether. This puts a whole new light and aspect to the act of tempering. What would happen to tempered thralls of Garuda or Ifrit if they were tempered too much? What would they turn into?

I am very curious to see where it's all headed. It's building up to a climax, that much is certain. Let the countdown to 2.5 begin.

I'm preety sure Midgardsomr was the gaktekeep that made the Primals Sealed Evil in a Can. His death released the primals. Therefore the Asceans could have instigated the Dragonsong war (or at least escalated it) so that the Holy See will get Midgardsomr killed and the Primals could be summoned

The explosion of the Agrius on Silvertear is what freed the primal. Midgardsormr was the keeper of that place, not the seal itself..

Midgardsormr was, I believe, the Keeper of the Lake and the protector of the seal. And if I'm not wrong, it was a vast store of aether that was released, not the primals themselves.

The aetheric fallout from that disaster is the cause of the purple smog that chokes Mor Dhona periodically.

I can't remember who it was, but there was someone who speculated in this forum that Midgardsormr could have been forced by the Allagans to guard the aether stored within Silvertear Lake. Given their extensive mastery over dragons, I thought it a plausible theory.

Recall that the Crystal Tower is right next door, and that it appears to be a facility for collecting solar energy and converting it into aether. All that processed aether had to be stored somewhere.

And the Allagans also appear to have had a bad history with primals. They first encountered them during their attempted invasion of Meracydia. And one of their most gifted mages, Wiyu, died in the attempt to seal Odin.

The Allagans went on to develop a number of counter-measures against them, from summoners to the Ultima/Omega Weapons and Dalamud.

The locking away of so much aether in Silvertear Lake may also have been a counter-measure, to cut off the necessary fuel for summoning, as it were.

Possibly a thousand years or so, since the Dragonsong War is said to have lasted at least that long.

I haven't completed Sastasha (Hard), so I had to glance away from your later sentences. I'd say only that I had a good chuckle in seeing the 2.0 version of a certain ill-fated party, whose leader lost his head.

It's possible they since retconned this but in the original 1.0 opening cinematic you actually see Ifrit, Titan and a whole host of other unidentified primals escape from Silvertear when the seal was broken. The Allagans had sealed Bahamut and Odin as well as all of the lesser primals by the time their empire was wiped out. It was only after the events at Silvertear that the beast tribes were able to start summoning again.
