The order is so dumb Nepto is the easiest to catch out of all of them. Was the last one I caught to get my ironworks. Still need Heli and Endo for the first part and the weather patterns are just stupid. Fish on!

Mm, I'd say Shonisaurus and Kuno are the hardest. Namitaro looks hard when you read the requirements, but you'll always have at least an 8 hour window to aim for takitaro - and despite the 1 minute buff it has a high appearance rate when it's active. It can still be tough, just relative to the others.

Hardest part of Endoceras and Helio was waiting for the right weather imo...maybe I just got lucky. And yeah, if you can reach the stats for Nepto it's mega underwhelming.

Has to be one of the dumbest quest out there. ( Ranting)
The reward is poor for the time and hassle you have to put in to it.
1 title, no minion/mount. Hq rates for Silver Fish and Cloud Cutters are ridiculously low.
Why I am I still doing this? This quest has been out long enough for it to be "Adjusted".
I like the challenge! just so damn annoyed with the mooching needed for Shoni and Kuno!!!!! and when i do get them on the hook.. "Fish Gets Away" at 435 Gathering,338 Perception Seriously???? (End Rant)

stats dont affect your reel success, it makes no difference if you have 396/190 or 500/400, the result will be the same

i caught Kuno the other day having fun with friends while they were also trying to catch it. and i had no idea its a hand in for this mission.

..... desynthed it. got fine sand HQ ^^.

then the said friends told me. "oh by the way. you need this fish for Feast of Famine quest"

ok update. not sure i can make it before 3.0

i only have 3 fish of the legendary left. Shonisaurus, Heli and Namitaro.

Shonisaurus only once i got the stars to align for the required weather/time. i had one chance. i got NQ Mahar ;_;
Heli, all my attempts failed so far (why its so hard to HQ Stormrider even tho i have full bis/lucis gear?). and then "The Fish Gets Away" every time.
Namitaro, tried many times. Fish gets away.

the weather is rare for Shonisaurus. im not sure i will be able to catch it at this rate before HW

Shoni was the toughest fish for me. That weather combo is pretty rare. Usually it pops up at least once per day - but I'm often at work when that time happens. Be sure that you have high enough Perception to HQ the Mahars! I think the target number is 380?

The worst part of Namitaro is catching a Giant Takitaro. Those things are scarce! Once Giant T is caught, though, Namitaro has a very high hook rate within its very short window. You can usually expect to hook one or two, and while they often will get away, eventually you'll catch it.

Heli is almost as bad as Shoni, but I didn't have nearly as much trouble catching that one as I did Shoni. Possibly just lucky.

Yeah, it'll be tough to catch all three before Heavensward, but best of luck to you!

I had the opposite problem. Scarfed a Haddock Dip HQ and hooked an HQ Mahar my second time, and the Shoni didn't get away from me. I realize that this makes me ridiculously lucky.

Helicoprion though? HQ Dustfish ... HQ Antlion Slug ... no HQ Storm Riders. EVER.
