    New computer

I've only been playing a few months but I am wanting to upgrade my computer. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on the specs I should be looking at. Mind you I am on a budget can't get the high dollar gaming computer I really want. Was thinking of building one but not sure on what type of parts would be best.

Spend all your money on a graphics card and then throw enough scrap around it to make it run

Don't exactly listen to this... To run XIV effectively you need a decent CPU also as MMO's typically utilize this more than the GPU. What's your budget? Can't recommend until we know.

GTX970 is your first purchase, don't get any other graphics card, work out your budget after that then build around it, Intel i5's are decent priced, so a core i5 with a motherboard that it will slot into, check if the RAM from your current rig will fit, if not, 8Gb minimum, your hard drive from your current system will fit so you can continue to use that, so really if you cannibalise your current system you just need motherboard/cpu/possibly ram and the VGA, but nothing other than a GTX970.

What is your current setup. How much do you have to spend. What resolution is your monitor.

Knowing this, it should be easy to give you an idea of what to do to get the most bang for your buck if you are on a budget.

So instead of being flexible about his budget (which OP hasn't provided yet), you go out and say that they NEED to buy a $320 USD graphics card. And then you say that a $200 USD i5. If OP is pretty much anywhere except the US, then those prices are going to be more expensive. Lets wait until we hear OP's budget before we jump the gun.

Not to mention the OP doesn't need a GTX970 to play this game on Maximum. However, this is me assuming that this will be the only game they play.

The GTX970 is the only card worth buying at the moment, it's as simple as that, there is no competition for the card, sure, the 980 is faster (though you can overclock the 970 to outperform the 980) but the 970 draws less power, runs cooler and will still be able to play games on very high settings in 4 years (unless you spend over $500 and get the GTX980, but why bother? The 970 will play XIV at 3360x2100 with DSR at a playable frame rate)

I'm sure the GTX970 is the only card worth buying when it's not your money were spending here. There more to a PC then just the graphics card, and there are
far more affordable options out there to make a combination of part that will play this game just fine and actually do other stuff.
