Cash Shop Overpriced?

improving the overall quality of the game is a terrible reason (because if they cant improve the game with 15$/m + 1million+ subs then wtf are they doing?)
please, stop acting like everything yoshi or SE does is a gift from garuda, our lord and saviour..because tbh its not.

Please provide details on your numbers. I would like to see a source.

Especially since I posted a source not 4 pages ago, detailing mathematically that ffxiv cannot have more than 300k subs atm.

Yoshi-P has already detailed via interview that proceeds from the Cash Shop will be directly going toward upgrading servers for Housing. they cannot afford it otherwise, and based on their investor reports, I can see why.

I am gonna have to agree with you in regards to subscriptions. I have known this for sometime but players still say that the game has 2 mil players and it dosent. I have been unable to find where your link is and would love to take a look at it.

Now with China in August. 2 + 1 = 3. Therefore, 3 million.

Those are total preorders and orders in the world, not subscriptions.

also, I wouldn't consider a source from cravegaming.com to be an end all primary source. I'm in college, and that source would not be allowed on a research paper.

Now, give me a SE direct source saying that, and ill concede the point gladly, but they avoid using the word subscriptions at all costs.

Now Yoshi continues to not release officail subscription numbers since than, now lets take into account the cash shop, even without a source adding a cash shop plus with the last officail subscriptions the game isnt doing as hot as Yoshi says it is. The so call 2.5 mil players is most likely box sales, they definitly didnt keep every player that bought the game. So technically speaking XIV has a retention rate of 25% or lower. Now before you say well I get log in Q's just remember Yoshi can set the number on that lower or higher to make it look like the servers are full even if they are not.

The mount is the same price as some of the other Game cash shop out there, Tera, Aion, Warcraft, etc. It's a bit high I agree. Should have been like $19.99 make more sense.

As I said in another thread that mount better do a lot more (if you know what I mean) for that price. You have to be crazy to buy that thing for 24.00. Talk about milking customers this is just insane. Hopefully very few players will actually buy any of that garbage and they have to take it down.

That's what I mean by the assumption of not obtaining items in-game - Nothing perse was taken out of the game because in all actuality, we still got the same amount of vanity items we always do, heck we even got more when you think about it. Same with the minions, there's a few in the cash shop and there's many more that will be in game as per comm rep stating some that were listed were for patches 2.45 and 2.5, meaning not cash shop exclusive.

They're not locking anything behind a paywall that they already didn't from the get go. They already said the cash shop will stick to strictly vanity items, but didn't say they will be taking content out of game to do so (which seems to be the fear people have that argue against it.) The only time cash shops go "down that path" is when they go Free to Play. The only exception I've seen was Blizzard using a catchup service.
