Character not appearing

Well I waited all night to download the patch and get a small house in Lavender beds. However I couldn't because my character simply doesn't appear in the character selection screen, and even after the server has been fixed, it says error 1016 world data cannot be obtained.

Been going on for about an hour and a half now.

Had the same problem with Balmung earlier. It's likely just congestion from everyone trying to log in at once. Give it time; keep trying. =)

Well, it's something like 10 hours after patch and my character is still lost in cyberspace. Error 1016, world data cannot be obtained.

Anyone else having this 1016 error? I hope i'm not the only one!

It's been a few days since patch and i'm still having the 1016 error! My character doesn't load up properly in character select screen and when I try to log on, I am put on the world map for a second before the 1016 error message. D: I highly doubt it's still due to server congestion!
