Care to elaborate? (What did your comment have to do with my comment?) I know what a ToS is and I only commented on what I have read others to say about the sub. Somehow that triggered you to start screaming "ToS"... I was wondering ... why?

Idk I personally don't consider vanity crap to be "content" as it has nothing to do with the actual game. WoW has been offering battle pets (minions) and mounts in their cash shop for years and they're doing fine. People buy them or don't and though I'm sure some people complained about it at first, they eventually got over it. Yea you're paying a sub to play the game, but do you NEED every single vanity item in the game for your playing experience to be optimal? If so, then you should re-evaluate what's important when it comes to playing a MMO. Vanity items have and always will be optional - and paying money for a few (but certainly not all) of the vanity items for any game is not a big deal (and is becoming increasingly common - even for p2p games).

You don't consider it content, however, the simple fact is, it is. What other MMO's do is irrelevant, I'd be playing them if I cared what they did.
No, I don't need them at all. I would like the option to obtain them without paying MORE money than I already pay. However, when I see the new vanity content that is introduced to the game and is obtainable in game being simple palette swaps of existing vanity items, it is very disheartening to see original looking designs they have actually put some effort into designing, locked behind a pay wall.
And "re-evaluate what's important" when it comes to playing an MMO? Isn't the idea of any game, to enjoy it, in whatever way you decide? If that is going on a collectathon and getting every minion or mount in game, then how is that any -less- important than someone who wants to raid all the time? Or someone who only plays for the story? Or someone who wants to cap every class/job/achievement?

^ Thanks for vomiting that up- but what does it have to do with the conversation? Did someone make claims of ownership somewhere? Is someone suing for custody of the Lalas??
If you read any of it - which it's obvious you didn't; you'd understand that you don't own anything - you have a subscription based license to access the game. Nothing more or less.
From what I have read, people are claiming the sub only pays for your connection. So I would propose that SE needs to put out COMPLETED expansions, so that when you pay for an expansion you get all the content... instead of half finished content, with no idea what will be added/included.I really don't see how you're missing this. All aspects of the Game (including but not limited to the Game computer code, updates, patches, expansion packs, characters, character names, character data, virtual items, character profile information, (non-personal) account information, chat transcripts, artwork, plot, dialogue, locations, sounds and music) are owned by Square Enix or its licensors. You do not have any property rights in the service account you use to play the Game ("FINAL FANTASY XIV Service Account" or "FFXIV Service Account").

I said you will get all the content - cause it's ...you know... FINISHED. It has ZERO to do with ownership.
Seriously?
(It has to do with concerns that cash shop development will take away from development of content and the rest of the game... this way the expansion would be complete, so people would get the full experience up front, without feeling trade offs are happening behind the scenes on unfinished content)

So this is what so many people had their britches up in knots over? A few pumpkins, a horse and useless minions, funny.
Oh and a couple sheets with holes cut in them.
