Thanks a lot guys I figured it out. Turns out I was going the wrong way xD

Using the journal map to find location then switching back to normal map without location shown makes me see different things so yeah, I went wrong way.

But Vydartyr, I get what you mean by traveling being more dangerous but come on, a lvl 76 near lvl 10-15 mobs? Dangerous but logically speaking would be seeing lvl 20 near lvl 10-15, seeing lvl 50 near lvl 40; not lvl 76 near lvl 10. That's dangerous to the point where it makes no sense.

The map so far is HUGE. There really is no need to put such a high lvl mob so close to town. In reality, it would actually ruin the gameplay since the high lvls now don't need to travel very far to find a high mob; whereas if they place mobs very far from town and would mandate some traveling would make much more sense.

And it's not just high mobs either. I'm at the lvl 10 camp and I still see lvl 1 mobs....why?

And sorry for the repost, new to the forums and just wanted to state my opinions. Old threads usually have like 10-100 pages already on them and people tend to get off topic towards the end so that's why I reposted.

Anyways, I hope SE prevails with this game, hopefully sooner than later. So far it seems pretty nice--except for the crab that killed me :/

    Happens to all of us.
Using the journal map to find location then switching back to normal map without location shown makes me see different things so yeah, I went wrong way.
Yeah, I've always thought that was odd. The journal map doesn't show crystals. Don't know why that is. But they've at least added the nearest aetheryte in the upper left corner of the journal map, so that helps.
Well, the level 76 mobs are actually in an area separated from the level 10 mobs. You have to go down into that canyon to get to them, and they don't wander up near the aetheryte. So it's not like the two are blended together. You just happened to wander into a very, very dangerous area.

But like I said, I tend to agree with you. I know there used to be a level 40 eft that hung out near Camp Bloodshore (r20) in LL. And there was a level 40 pieste that hung out outside the city gates in Uldah. That thing would one-shot players heading out to the r1 camp. But I'm not sure if they're still there. They might have been moved away.
The map so far is HUGE. There really is no need to put such a high lvl mob so close to town. It's possible that some higher level players would disagree with you there, since they probably like the convenience of having higher level mobs nearby.

But for the most part, it is like you want it to be. The farther you get from the city, the higher the level of mobs. The highest level mobs tend to be in Coerthas and Mor Dhona, which are completely different zones.

But generally, it seems like SE was trying to make all camps generally the same distance from the city. The lowest level camps are right outside the city gates. But the distance to the r10 camp and the r30 camp are pretty similar. That's not necessarily a bad thing because it means when you rank up, you can still get right into the action without having to run forever.
And it's not just high mobs either. I'm at the lvl 10 camp and I still see lvl 1 mobs....why?
There are level 1 mobs along all the roads in Eorzea. No matter what level the nearby camp is, there are going to be level 1 mobs along the road leading there. I suspect it's to make sure people can travel in relative safety, and also because people were complaining that there weren't any mobs along the roads.
Anyways, I hope SE prevails with this game, hopefully sooner than later. So far it seems pretty nice--except for the crab that killed me :/
Oh, don't worry. In a couple more levels, you'll have plenty of opportunities to take revenge on that crab's family members. I still enjoy killing antlings, since so many killed me when I was running around at low levels.

They have reasonably fixed it now, with high level mobs being mostly in high level mini-zone. No more Gobbu, Peiste, Morbol, Redhorn Ogre, Boar etc. on the road anymore, so stick with the road, it's usually safe.

Like I said, a little warning toward the high level mini-zone would do a lot good. Ever played FO:NV? Right at the start of the game, you can choose a very deadly shortcut heading North toward Vegas instead of the long back-track route following the story-line toward South. NPCs around the road to the North would actively tell you how dangerous it is. It's great, it's immersive, it's reasonable and it's actually challenging should you choose to brave the dangerous short cut (I did).

yea a warning would be nice, like if your screen started flashing red or something if there is a mob 20 lvls higher than you, that would be awesome :]

Eh i dont know about the flashing red thing because I go in places where mobs are 20 lvls higher then me all the time. Besides if you party thats what most of the mobs ur fighting are going to be. I wouldnt want to have a flashing red screen all the time, that would just be annoying lol

Click on a mob, and there's a number right next to the mob's name indicating its level and an icon indicating whether it aggros. That should tell you everything you need to know without a flashing red screen.

Just have to pay attention to your surroundings.
