Since 2.0 you've been able to launch the launcher and log-in during maintenance but the usually Green Log-in button after logging in blacked out. The game checks for version updates after you log-in in the launcher, not when the launcher launches, it checks for launcher updates when the launcher is opened, not game updates.

Not quite right. That is the version check for the LAUNCHER. The client update is separate to that and always been tied to the server it contacts after logging in.

We are talking about 2 different things. I'm talking about the patch server you guys are talking about how the game is updated.

Okay so the people with high speed downloads are the ones that are going to gobble up all the housing and once again people are going to be left out...

Quite honestly that's how it works. It'll be first come first serve as with all patches in all MMOs ever

SE has posted all they need to post. They gave us more than what was supposed to be in the preliminary patch notes, when servers were going down, and when servers are going live again. There really isn't anything more to talk about. True, the excitement to know more and play the new patch is real. Very Real. But all these threads over, compensation for downtime ( $0.50), demanding updates that were already given not even 24hrs ago, griping about future emergency fixes, and the notion that everyone's crappy internet speed is somehow supposed to make SE change when they release the patch for download is just all so idiotic. What is wrong with people today? 1 day. ONE DAY is all it is and I see way too many acting like it's the most hateful crime ever done unto them.

Anyone stopped to think that the client download is on the datacenter servers which may not be booted back up and ready to go yet? Do you guys also want hourly tweets from the techs saying "There There...don't worry...the patch is still on time. Here's an instagram pic of one of the server stacks getting rewired". They're taking longer than previous patches to put the client update up but that can easily be technical problems.

While I get the point, and agree, am I the only one here who thinks the instagram pick would be cool to see?
