Patience is a virtue. They're adding more server hardware and whatnot for housing and need to make sure all that runs correctly when they bring the game back online, both of which can take a fair amount of time. They also have to get all the updates onto all the servers we play on. Plus they have to test everything to make sure it all runs correctly before they turn the servers back on. AND they need to have the other servers prepared for the massive amount of people signing in and downloading the patch.

They shouldn't need to tell update exactly what they're doing while they're doing their jobs. While everyone would like an update, it's not necessary for them to give one until they feel it's needed (i.e. "SERVERS ARE UP! RELEASED FULL PATCH NOTES!" or "Maintenance will be extended by X amount of hours due to unforeseen complications").
