Do we really need Flying Mount in this game?

I'm happy as long as the flying mounts are only useable in these sky zones to get to the different floating islands. Though I wonder if they'll also have aetherytes to make the travel instant...

I do agree with the OP on one thing, though - I personally liked waiting around for transport in real time in FFXI. Yeah, 5-15 minutes to wait for an airship/ferry (and then an extra 10-15 mins to fly/sail) sometimes did get tedious and boring, but there was generally stuff to do while you waited. I enjoyed bonding with random strangers, fishing off the side of the ferry, getting randomly attacked by pirates and krakens... It all felt very realistic and added a cool flavor to the game.

That said, I highly doubt it'd ever be in XIV. Just wishful thinking~

and do we even need any mounts at all the answer of course is no but we love to have them

should be useable every where and at any time once you earn the mount meaning make it cost like 50k grand company seals for leance to fly every where

and make secret treasure chest that can only be gotton using the mount in all areas

the flying mount should be useulable all the time however it should cost us either like 500k or the maxuim seals to get a licences to allow ust to fly every where

When half of the expansion's content is on floating islands in the sky, we kinda need flying mounts.

Also, Black Chocobos and Airships are Final Fantasy staples. They've gotta be in.

I'm all for more transportation options. There's nothing stopping anyone who wants to stop and smell the roses from doing so to their heart's desires. By all means, take that leisurely stroll down loser's lane as fast as your* stubby taru legs can take you*. But if you* can only enjoy it if everyone else is slogging along with you* then maybe you* don't quite enjoy the simple life as much as you* think you* do.

More mounts, and no arbitrary restrictions or excessive time sink gates either! That's not fun. I had strings, but now I'm free. There are no strings on me.

i dont know why people want restrictions the hole thing about final fantasy is the feel of a open free world i still rememeber the 1st final fantasy i every played getting in that air ship flying all around the world map just made my heart swore with freedomness its amazing no strings to hold me in place

Airship. I like when traveling on Airship, monsters come and invade and try to take over. Also, we can build Airship in 3.0.

The casual hoard that came to FFXIV will want airships, less time to get the best gear, and anything that may take a little bit longer will be whined about until the devs cave in. I played 1.0 because it fascinated me. I, like the OP, enjoyed the danger of traveling and the massive maps, no matter how tedious and copy and paste they were, and the time I invested in the game reaped a satisfaction that 2.0 has yet to give me. We ran speed runs to try and improve our skill and pop and extra chest. It is now just to save time.

I am going to predict that the casuals will continue to run over us legacy players and drive out hardcore gamers until this game because nothing more than an easy to beat free to play. Devs will not hear cries like mine, instead, they focus at all the ruckus these casual are causing. I think we need to have the game hit a dead point to where only the hardcore will stay and stick it out to drive these casual players out.

What a load of hogwash...you do not get to speak for legacy players, I am one too and I am very much in favor of flying mounts if done well of which based on what has been described so far it seems like it will be. This whole hardcore vs casuals thing is childish and it is not new players vs old ones either.

Some old players want something and some don't, same applies to some new players do and some do not. I hate when people put these imaginary lines in the sand and proclaim they speak for more than just themselves. Do not like the idea of flying mounts? Fine, say you do not like the idea which is perfectly okay to express...but do not try to claim to speak for some group when actually you do not and stop trying to turn it into a us vs them too. This response applies to everyone who tries to do such things.
