A PS4 is basically a PC. They have the extra layer of Playstation Network to get through but that hasn't exactly been a bastion of security in the past. You can't just "hack" a PS4 to steal info, the only possible way someone could do that was if they were piggybacking off your Wifi and tracking outgoing packets sent to the PSN/SEN servers and decrypt your login information from those packets, but even that is a 1/10000000000 chance of happening :P
PC on the other hand, well...
This sorta defeats the purpose of 2 step authentication. Someone just needs your password and your ip address and they can spoof their way into your account.I say why not?
Before jumping all over me, why not look at another subscription mmo that has a token that allows this?
World of Warcraft has a token, and if you log on from the same location it may not ask you for your authenticator number. If you log on from a different location it does ask. If you are logging in from an internet cafe or a shared location that isn't on a personal computer it will always ask for your authenticator code.
Why not have a similar log in system like this?
