Not a single game remains difficult forever. They're games, they have a set of rules which the player will eventually master. The more you play a game the better you become on it till eventually you understand how everything works inside out. It's actually what makes games appealing. Seeing yourself slowly progress and becoming better at it. Starting as a complete noob, going through hell and being able to beat it after a while without a problem.
Games that remain difficult forever are pvp games, where the opponent is another human which learns at the same rate or faster than you.

There are a lot of conflicting opinions, but I'd say the game can be difficult, but mostly at endgame. Some of the leveling dungeons are a bit more of a challenge than the level 50 ones due to overgearing (levelling dungeons have level sync with a maximum of +3 -- so a level 20 dungeon can be run at no higher than 23).

Most everything is tightly scripted, though some things are a bit looser. Those more loosely scripted items are what tend to kill people the most, though there is a mechanic in turn 2 that has no system side variables at all that most players just avoid entirely because a mistake on the part of any player will kill everyone.

Most of the people here saying that the game is too easy are of the opinion that something can't be considered hard if being good at it means you'll almost always win. It doesn't seem to matter that most people are not good at it, just that fact that there's a way to win 100% of the time means that it's easy.

As others have said, learning a fight to the point where you almost never make a mistake takes a fair amount of time, and of course there are 7 other people with you. Because most mechanics require the attention of several or even all players, 1 person messing up can end a run. Sometimes you'll find the same person screwing up every time and the fix is obvious. Other times you'll see that player 1 dies like once in 5 attempts, while player 2 dies once in 7, and player 3 dies 3 out of 8 attempts. All of these players are getting it right most of the time, but unless their successes are in sync with each other you're going nowhere.

Of course a player getting hit by an AoE or something isn't all that can go wrong. If you fail to meet DPS checks, for example, figuring out why can be a headache given the lack of in game parser and the fact that nobody's going to raise their hand and tell you that they were playing poorly.

TLDR; you can get very far on mostly easy content. Endgame is much harder due to stricter mechanics and the fact that there are 7 other people dancing with you.

These same people who make these types of parties have also made their own newbie parties when they were new. I don't expect to join these parties If I consider myself new to the content. I'm very considerate to other peoples' time. I would only join them If I knew I would be able to complete content with them in the time given. I would make my own learning party/practice party until I felt confident enough to join those parties asking for players not to be newbies.

I don't know why people get upset about parties asking for a specific type of person to join them. Some of them are not even hardcore players that have many hours to play so they just want players that would not waste their time.

Everything in this game is too easy IMO with the exception of EX mode primals and Coil.

Like I said in my earlier reply. Coil is a 4 bosses raid and thats it. Its a very small part of the entire game. There are more dungeons, primals and other stuff than high end stuff. So overall the game is easy and like I said I dont know coil so I cant give an opinion on that. But coil is such a small part of the entire game so 4 hard bosses dont make the game hard imo.

    Mostly easy, barely hard.
    • For easy content, you have 11 dungeons, 2 raids (LotA being harder than ST because trash mobs are actually mini-bosses themselves) and T1-4. Sadly the new dungeons may join the ranks of easy dungeons, due to the low minimal ilvl requirement. Hard Mode Primals also fall under this, especially Leviathan and Ramuh (and possibly Shiva). Gilgamesh (and possibly the two new Hildibrand bosses) also falls under Easy. Also Hunts.
    • For medium content, you have some Extreme Primals (Garuda, Ifrit, Leviathan, Moggle Mog and Ramuh. Excluding Titan due to latency issues some players may have), Turn 5 and soon T6-8.
    • For Hard, T9 and the entirety of Final Coil. Second Savage maybe... but the reward is only titles.

Simply put, this game is unbalanced in terms of difficulty.

    Mechanics.

This game is basically just a roller coaster ride of 1-hit KO mechanics.

I come from a game where 1 single player can kill end game bosses in a matter of seconds, some even die in a single hit. That game is maplestory. So imo, this game is much harder than I'm used to (which is good).

I honestly think that the dungeons and open world are far too easy. This is not by any means being elitist but, there is absolutely 0 consequence for anything in this game.

I do agree that "some" content can be difficult with incompetent players but like most have already said, once you learn the mechanics its not hard at all. I miss the original AK demon wall, or Pharos. Why so soft now? None of those things were even remotely hardcore and yet they got nerfed. Its saddening to see the direction MMO's are going with this instant gratification going around.

You don't even have to look at games to know that is false. Long division is 'hard' until...physics is hard until...engineering is hard until...ice skating is hard until...Once you learn something, it ceases to be hard. To you. Perceived difficulty is what you get when you consider how long it takes people to learn the content and considering this last week I carried people through primals and got someone who had their Nexus a T5 first time clear, I'd say for the average player, the game is difficult.

There are varying levels of difficulty as well, it's not a switch from hard to not hard. A game doesn't have to be I Wanna Be The Guy to be considered 'hard.'
